Andrez (andrez-ssi) I was wondering, those of you are learning another language, what do you think of reading a book in that language? I can tell by experience that its very useful

have you read any?
if yes, how many?
was it hard?
do you prefer reading a book written in its original language or a translation of a book youve read already'?

Adrienne (a-town) | 42 comments I have only read two or three books in the original Spanish language, I really enjoyed it because I learned a lot and I was able to pick up on some meanings that didn't directly translate into English. However, I also liked having an English translation by my side as well, so that if I ever got stuck, I could check and see what was going on and what a certain word or phrase meant. Of course, I also had my Spanish to English dictionary by my side at all times as well. I'm still better at reading Spanish than I am at speaking or writing it, but I hope to one day become fluent.

Elizabeth☮ i'll get children's books for my daughter in spanish and then read them and find i'm pronouncing everything incorrectly! my husband speaks spanish fluently and i'll ask him how to say words i don't know or think i'm sure i've said wrong and i'm shocked to hear the correct pronunciation! i also have read books in french when i took it in college. not easy.
