LeOta (berrylota) | 22 comments Oh, sounds good!!! I will make a note to pick up that book this week.

I have been brushing up on my Agatha Christie. About once a year, I go on a Carnival Cruise, and this year, I noticed that they offer a WHO DONE IT cruise. I will probably end up on my regular party cruise, but I have not made up my mind yet. A WHO DONE IT would be a lot of fun.

message 3: by Novin (new)

Novin | 28 comments That sounds really COOL !!
P.S: so would you tell me as soon as you got "Third Girl"?

message 4: by LeOta (new)

LeOta (berrylota) | 22 comments I have had a hard time finding "Third Girl", so today, I placed an order on AMAZON, and will get the book on Friday. I will begin reading immediatley!!! :-)

message 5: by LeOta (new)

LeOta (berrylota) | 22 comments OH NO!!! I just checked my e-mail, and since I opted for free shipping, they predict my book will be here on the 16th rather than the 6th.

Currently, I am reading, "The Tuesday Night Club". It's a Miss. Marple book - a really short one.

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) Hi Novin and LeOta,

I just joined, and I would be interested in reading the book Third Girl. I don't believe I ever read that one. If I did, it was so long ago that I don't remember. It will probably take at least one week for the book to come from the library. If you want to start before then, I will just join in when I get the book.

message 9: by LeOta (new)

LeOta (berrylota) | 22 comments Hello there, Catamorandi.

I believe that by the time the book is delivered to me, you may already have it at the library.

When you get the book, you post that you have it, and when I get the book, I will do the same. We will all be on the same page and can begin together.

:-)

message 10: by LeOta (new)

LeOta (berrylota) | 22 comments Catamorandi,

Sorry. Even thought I have been posting with you, I accidently sent you a private message asking you if you wanted to read the book we have been posting about. Please disregard that message, because obviously I know that you are interested in reading it.

message 11: by LeOta (new)

LeOta (berrylota) | 22 comments Novin,

I thought that before I join another group for a group book read, I would contact the members of this group first and see if any of them are interested.

Christine read this book for a different group read recently, but said she may pop in for discussion once we get going with the book.

The messages went out not too long ago, so let's see who in our group would be interested in our book read.

message 12: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) Sounds good. I'll let you know when I get the book.

message 13: by LeOta (new)

LeOta (berrylota) | 22 comments My book came in the mail today.

As soon as Catamorandi's book is available from the library, we are good to go. :-)

Novin | 28 comments wow...juss think...that'd be awesome all 3(or more) of us , in different parts of the world on the same page of the same book...wow...

message 19: by Catamorandi (new)

message 21: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) Hi Novin and leOta,

I have finally gotten Third Girl from the library. Would it be possible to start on Monday. I have a lot of reading for the book of the group I am moderating. I would like to get most of that read and then start this discussion. If you would rather start today or tomorrow, I will understand and go along with the majority.

message 22: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I hope I wasn't supposed to have anything read for tomorrow. If so, please let me know so that I can start reading it tonight.

message 23: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I'm going to start reading Chapter 1 so I won't be too far behind no matter what I was supposed to have read.

message 24: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I am ready to start when you are. I read the first chapter. If I need to read anything else, I will.

message 25: by Novin (new)

Novin | 28 comments Dear Catamorandi , you ain't far behind at all! I've just read a few pages!I'll read the first chapter though...

message 26: by LeOta (new)

LeOta (berrylota) | 22 comments I am reading the first chapter today. :-)

message 27: by LeOta (new)

LeOta (berrylota) | 22 comments Are we going on to chapter 2 or 3? Are we discussing as we go? I have kind of lost track. I am going to read chapter 3 this evening.

message 28: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I can read Chapter 2 tonight.

message 29: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I was under the impression that we were discussing as we went along, but that doesn't mean I'm right.

message 30: by Novin (new)

Novin | 28 comments Wow...I'll read it! I promise!! and i think we joined this together reading to disscuss it while reading! But I've recently started Twilight, which is really hard reading another book while reading it!really nice i can't put it away even for a sec!I stay awake late at nights & get up soon just to read it!(although i really don't appreciate love stories!it's really strange...)I just stopped all other books i was reading ...but 3 chapters is nothing!i'll do it!sure!this morning, instead of reading twilight.G'night then!

message 31: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I have just finished Chapter 3. I will wait for everyone else to get here. The chapters are quite short.

message 32: by Novin (new)

Novin | 28 comments I read 4 chapters .

message 33: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I'll read Chapter 4 tomorrow after church.

message 34: by LeOta (new)

LeOta (berrylota) | 22 comments I am in the 4th Chapter. I gotta say, this book seems to be a bit different than the Miss. Marpel/ Hercule Poirot novel's I'm use to.

For instance, this Ariadne Oliver seems to be providing a lot of information that usually Mr. Poirot would be discovering for himself.

Also, it is really convienent that she calls right after the odd girl hurts Mr. Poirot's feelings, insists on him visiting her and then reveals that she met the girl herself and explains to him what a Third Girl is.

Mr. Poirot's sweet tooth seems rather familiar though. :-)

message 35: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) LeOta,

I felt the same way. This really is very different than I am used to with Agatha Christie's books. Hercule is hardly finding out anything for himself. Adriadne Oliver is taking the "limelight away from Hercule", so to speak. She has been in a couple of other Agatha Christie books, but she doesn't take over like she has here. I can't wait to see if Hercule ever gains back his power from Ariadne.

message 36: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) Now that I think of it, Ariadne Oliver always takes over every time she is in an Agatha Christie book. She thinks that since she is a mystery writer that she knows more than an actual private investigator, such as Poirot.

message 37: by Novin (new)

Novin | 28 comments I haven't met her in anyother book , but yes she wonna do everything herself & the problem is that she knows nothing!

message 38: by Catamorandi (last edited Jul 17, 2008 12:24AM) (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) She thinks that she does, though. She thinks that being a mystery writer gives her the right to rule the roost. Hercule thinks differently, much differently. I won't tell you anymore because I don't want to spoil it for you. This is not Murder She Wrote.

message 39: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) She is the essence of her own doing. She needs to realize that Hercule Poirot knows more than her.

message 40: by Novin (new)

Novin | 28 comments how many chapter have u read? it's getting interesting! sorry , but i read 13 ! :"|

message 41: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I'm on Chapter 4 right now. I will read the rest of 4 & 5 today.

message 42: by Novin (new)

Novin | 28 comments aha! i'm reading really fast! i don't feel it myself but then i wonna close the book & i notice how much i read! today i read up to chapter 19 on the way to my piano teacher! and it ain't a long time!

message 43: by LeOta (new)

LeOta (berrylota) | 22 comments This is the first book I have come across this Ariande Oliver.

I couldn't figure it out at first, but now I know why Ariadne Oliver seems so familiar.
Murder She Wrote's Jessica Fletcher!!! I bet Murder She Wrote was an American knock off of this busy body mystery writer. ha ha.

message 44: by Catamorandi (new)

Catamorandi (wwwgoodreadscomprofilerandi) I'm sorry guys. I have so many commitments right now. There is no way I can possibly keep up. I am afraid I am going to have to drop out of this group, at least for now.

yeah... wht's ur question?

message 48: by Saad (last edited Mar 13, 2009 02:40PM) (new)

Saad Hyatt (saadhyatt) | 10 comments A0A. My name is Saad and I joined this group just yesterday. The prime reason for me doing so is a very strange one. You see i am probably the biggest Agatha Christie fan on planet earth and i have this really troubling question regarding MURDER ON THE ORIENT EXPRESS. I haven't read it yet but while reading Agatha Christie's biography on the net i unfortunately read that at the end of the novels hercule poirot takes mercy on the killer and lets him\her escape justice. what i wanted to know is if this fact is going to spoil the novel for me or not.
It may seem wried to you but it is very important for me to get this question answered. so please do it ASAP. I asked you because no one where i live follow Agatha Christie.
Looking forward to your reply.

message 49: by Saad (new)

Saad Hyatt (saadhyatt) | 10 comments Please don't say anything in your answer which may spoil it further for me as i haven't read it yet

message 50: by Zoe (new)

Zoe (xjust4kix) | 2 comments read the book! it's really great and what you read in her bio won't spoil anything about the story. im not saying that the bio is correct or that it's not but you have to read it to understand what i mean. it's really a good story. i tried to solve it on my own but it was just so... read it! you'll like it.
