I'm glad Crais has given Joe Pike another novel of his own. He deserves a little front time, and Elvis Cole functions well in his role reversal as a sidekick. Pike is mysterious, dangerous, monosyllabic, and action driven. No stranger to dangerous missions, he sets out to uncover who killed one of his former comrades, along with his entire family, and why. The action was fast paced and the dialogue compact as Pike proceeded to settle the score.

I gave this 4 stars and vow to go back and read the couple of Elvis Cole books I've missed.
