Chachic Really? It's not good? I'm looking forward to reading that because I've heard good things about the book. I haven't started on a new book yet. I just finished reading The Chronicles of Chrestomanci, Volume I: Charmed Life / The Lives of Christopher Chant and I don't know if I should start reading The Chronicles of Chrestomanci, Volume II: The Magicians of Caprona / Witch Week or if I should read another book.

message 2: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I hope it picks up! Let me know what you think when you're done!

message 3: by Amy (last edited Apr 12, 2010 01:14AM) (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) For INCARCERON, the things I've heard about it are either that it's insanely good or pretty bad. Practically nothing in between! So I'm hoping I'm on the first side, because I do love me some dystopia :D

Currently reading:
The Reckoning (Darkest Powers, #3) by Kelley Armstrong The Blue Sword by Robin McKinley Fablehaven (Fablehaven, #1) by Brandon Mull

And I plan on starting on these fast-like!
The Demon King (Seven Realms, #1) by Cinda Williams Chima Ten Cents a Dance by Christine Fletcher [image error]

message 4: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Oooh Amy, The Blue Sword is one of my all-time favorites! Hope you like it as well.

message 5: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) @Chachic: I hope so! I'm about 80 pages in and it's pretty good so far! Hoping it gets a little more action-y though :D

@Bluemoon: YES! I love his Peter series to bits and pieces as well but I luuurve Kingdom Keepers a little more!! :D It's so cool how it takes place in Disney...best. thing. EVER. (= Especially when the places I've been are described in the book! Here in the US the book came out last week and I already got it...it's lying on my desk TEMPTING ME...but I have self control and I shall finish what I'm currently reading first. I will. *peeks at book* OK I WILL :)
YAY!! I hope he does! They are so awesome. The first book really was better, even though I liked the setting of the second one better! (Animal Kingdom :D)

message 6: by Amy (last edited Apr 12, 2010 03:55PM) (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) Hm, well the second book is a different adventure but there are several key events and main characters from the first book that are repeatedly referenced in the second, so it might be a better idea to read the first book, well, first! :D You'd enjoy it a lot more as such!

Tehehehehe. I assume you live in Canada, right? (b/c of the Chapters loving :D) It comes out tomorrow there! So not too far away! I've been to the Florida one once every year for the last four years, so it's a thrill reading them. Though I always wish that the books came out during summer so I could take them along with me and READ them while I'm actually in the Disney parks! Unfortunately that hasn't happened yet, haha (=

And omgomgomg The Reckoning- I AM ON THE LAST 80 PAGES OR SO. =O It's so very very GOOOOOD...best one out of the trilogy I think, and I'm going to be so heartbroken and sad when it's over. Thank GOOOOOOOOOODNESS Kelley is writing another trilogy, and Chloe & co. will appear in it! :D Now I must stop trolling around Goodreads and get to finishing! Hehe.

message 7: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Amy, it's going to have a lot of action. Just wait! :)

message 8: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Bluemoon, which one? If you mean The Blue Sword, then yes I've read it and it's one of my favorites.

message 9: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Nope, I haven't started on it! My friend gave me a copy of the first book and I'll get around to reading it this month so I can join the discussion. :)

message 10: by Chachic (new)

Chachic No prob! I'll get around to it soon enough. I haven't started on a new book yet so maybe I can read that first. Hmm...

message 11: by Ariel (new)

Ariel Acupan | 4 comments I'm currently reading UGLIES by Scott Westerfeld. It got so much good reviews and I hope that it would not disappoint me. So far so good, it's one of those futuristic novel and I'm currently on the third chapter. The statement at the front of the book really made me picked it up.

UGLIES: In a world of extreme beauty, anyone normal is ugly.

message 12: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) Yes, there's gonna be a fourth book! But it's focusing on a different project (Icarus or Phoenix or something, I remember reading it in the book). Kelley posted some stuff about it already. Here's what she's said-
"The next book is The Gathering. Same world. New characters. New Edison Group experiment. The Gathering starts trilogy #2, Darkness Rising. While my plot line shows Chloe and the others being introduced late in that trilogy, that is NOT a guarantee until the whole thing is written."

And there's already a goodreads page for it :D
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/78...

Plus there's already a blurb (of sorts) for it.
The Gathering
"Maya lives in a small medical-research town on Vancouver Island. How small? You can’t find it on the map. It has less than two-hundred people, and her school has only sixty-eight students—for every grade from kindergarten to twelve.
Now, strange things are happening in this claustrophobic town, and Maya's determined to get to the bottom of them. First, the captain of the swim team drowns mysteriously in the middle of a calm lake. A year later, mountain lions start appearing around Maya's home, and they won’t go away. Her best friend, Daniel, starts getting negative vibes from certain people and things. It doesn't help that the new bad boy in town, Rafe, has a dangerous secret—and he's interested in one special part of Maya's anatomy: Her paw-print birthmark."

I got that from here: http://www.facebook.com/topic.php?uid...

Such useful things Twitter has. I found this stuff from following Kelley, tehe.

message 13: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I haven't read the Uglies series so let me know if it's any good! I think I'm more interested in the Midnighters series though.

message 14: by Ariel (new)

Ariel Acupan | 4 comments Chachic & Bluemoon: I'm also interested on reading that, maybe after the UGLIES series.

message 15: by Aaron Vincent (last edited Apr 12, 2010 11:28PM) (new)

Aaron Vincent (aaronvincent) I have read Secret Hour(Midnighters Book 1) and it was awesome. I dare say that its better than the Uglies series.

Currently Reading: Lord Loss(The Demonata Bk. 1)

Lord Loss
Lord Loss (The Demonata, #1) by Darren Shan

message 16: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) I just finished The Reckoning...and holy wow that was bloody amazing. I need the fourth book now...oh gosh woowowowowow. I loved it. I'm sad now. No more Chloe & gang :( Until the fourth book, that is! :D But still, that was a killer of an ending!

message 17: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I'm going to start reading The Summoning because it's this group's monthly read! Good thing I haven't started on any other book.

I am reading some light books now Gregor the Overlander (Underland Chronicles, #1) by Suzanne Collins and On the Bright Side, I'm Now the Girlfriend of a Sex God Further Confessions of Georgia Nicolson (Confessions of Georgia Nicolson Book 2) by Louise Rennison .

message 19: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 14 comments I've just finished The Gates by John Conolly and it was great. Now, I'm starting the Maximum Ride series by James Patterson. So far so good :)
Anyone read that series?

message 20: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Heidi, let us know what you think about the Gregor books! I read the Georgia Nicolson series when I was a lot younger so I don't remember a lot about it but I recall that they were really funny.

I haven't read the other books mentioned but I will check them out!

message 21: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) I read the Gregor books when I was in elementary and I loved them! They're awesome and it's nice to read Suzanne Collin's work aside from the Hunger Games stuff :)

Brittany (finally graduated and can once again read for fun) | 148 comments Just picked up INCARCERON from the library today. Need to finish reading Gone, then I'm hopping for a better reading experience than Bluemoon. I was so excited, but now not as much.

message 23: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Brittany, let us know what you think of Incarceron. My friend sent me that book as well as Sapphique but it'll take a couple of weeks to get here so I won't be able to read it until next month. I was really excited to read it too.

message 24: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Oh good!

I'm on book one of the series. Picked it up on Sunday at the library. :)

Sophie | 14 comments Bluemoon wrote: "hehehe...delete my comment on the other thread. I forgot your in the Maximum Ride series. I'm pretty sure you'll like it!"

hehe it's ok ;)
I'm liking it very much so far, I love the fast pace.

message 27: by Sophie (new)

Sophie | 14 comments Exactly! Two-page chapters rock! It's a great "on-the-go" book. It's gonna be awesome during commute on the train hehe.

Will do. I am almost done with Gregor and it is very good so far. But, like Percy Jackson was for me, it seems like it is meant for a younger crowd ( I am old). Hunger Games is more an "any age" book than Gregor - at least to me. But, if you liked Percy, you will def. like this one. p.s. I did not know it was a whole series - I have 4 more to go!

message 29: by Chachic (new)

Chachic Oh so it's probably middle grade and not YA then?

I guess. I am not great with classifications. :)

Haha no problem, Heidi. I just wanted to clarify!

Bluemoon wrote: "CHACHIC: Gregor is more of middle grade, you're right. Can't really say it's YA since I found it in the 'children's' section."

It is really good either way - I should be done with it today and really like it.

message 33: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) Right now reading:
Here Lies Arthur by Philip Reeve

Also reading:
Fablehaven (Fablehaven, #1) by Brandon Mull Shadowed Summer by Saundra Mitchell

@BLUEMOON: I just finished The Clocks by Agatha Christie- it's pretty good! One of her better ones I think...so far, at least! :D

message 34: by Aaron Vincent (new)

Aaron Vincent (aaronvincent) Woah. Fablehaven!! It's one of the coolest!!

I know! I'm loving it so far- about 1/3rd through!

message 37: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) @Heidi:
Oooh tell me if it's good or not when you finish! I have the book but I'm not sure if it's worth reading or not. I loved The Book Thief though :)

message 38: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) @Bluemoon:
OMG yes! I even formulated my own theory and I was so ready to see myself be proven right...only to find out it was totally different! And that's what I love about her writing :D

message 39: by Tayla (new)

Tayla (taylaw) I am reading Bounce by Natasha friend, its good! :)

message 40: by Amy (last edited Apr 15, 2010 11:04PM) (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) Bluemoon wrote: "with that book I was literally stumped! I had my speculations, but I was totally wrong in the end. Have you read her The Mysterious Affair at Styles?"

Not yet! I'm still deciding what to read next. What do you think,
The Mysterious Affair at Styles or
The ABC Murders or
Peril at End House? :D

message 41: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I want to read Fablehaven but I haven't been able to see the first book at the local bookstores. I always see books 2, 3 or 4.

message 42: by Tayla (new)

Tayla (taylaw) Thank you!

Bluemoon - I am the Messenger was written before Book Thief and so far it is much lighter material. It is about a 19 year old underage cab driver named Ed that starts getting playing cards with addresses on them and at each address there is someone that needs his help in some way. It is hilarious so far. I am only on the second CD and have laughed out loud multiple times (which for me is not usual). I will let you know if I recommend it next week when I finish it.

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

I just finished Water for Elephants which I loved (but it's not YA). I'll be starting The Summoning so I can finish our April book before the end of the month. :)

message 45: by [deleted user] (new)

Water for Elephants is about an old man looking back on his years working with a circus. Click the link and read the summary. It is touching and will make you feel happy, sad, angry, etc.

Chachic Hey, I loved Poison Study! I thought it was amazing. Hope you like it as well, Bluemoon!

message 48: by Chachic (new)

Chachic I loved Poison Study! And I think I read Magic Study but then I didn't move on to Fire Study because I liked Poison Study on its own. Haha I'm weird. Hope you like the sequels too!

message 49: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) I'm reading The Darkangel by Meredith Ann Pierce. It's really good so far; brings to mind another book I read recently but I can't recall it exactly.

message 50: by Amy (new)

Amy (aaammmyyy) I really liked Poison Study, and Magic Study as well (though a little bit less), and I haven't read Fire Study yet but I've heard some less than favorable reviews about it /: Idk..what do you guys think of the romance between Yelena & Valek in the trilogy? Do you like it?
