Andrez (andrez-ssi) cool! will get it asap

message 3: by Angela (new)

Angela B I just picked this up from the library so I'll be getting to it any day now :)

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

Sounds great. I'm borrowing it from a friend as soon as I stop by her house for a visit.

(I did just read The Notebook and liked it. I know it was written awhile ago so it will be nice to see if his writing style has developed after all of this time.)

Angela B I finished this book two nights ago and I really enjoyed it. I found it to be a touching story and as someone that cry's easily when reading a sad book I shouldn't have read it in public (which I did and it was embarrassing). Now that I'm done with the book I would really like to see the movie. I'd give the book a 4 out of 5

I have this book. I'm trying to get to it. I have to finish Angelology for and ARC and this I have to finish Her Fearful Symmetry because it is only a 7 day check out an then I'll be reading The Last Song.

message 7: by KSMary (new)

KSMary I'm still waiting for it.

message 8: by [deleted user] (new)

We are closing in with our time to be reading THE LAST SONG. Does anyone have anything they want to ask about the book?

message 9: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) Did anyone else feel like the characters were too stereotypical? I found it hard to like any of them when I could guess everything about them. The father was the only exception! He was at least a little unpredictable (though his story wasn't!)

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

I only started but I also feel like there is a lack of creativity in this book. Like you said... we can guess everything.

message 11: by Kristen (new)

Kristen Pfaff (kl_pfaff) I know! It was definitely my first experience with Nicholas Sparks and I guess I am glad that I read one of his books. I just don't know if I would ever want to read another one. My sister read Dear John and loved it.

Elyssa: Definitely off-topic but have you finished Her Fearful Symmetry yet? I read that one not to long ago and have conflicted feelings about it. Just curious what you thought of it.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

I started the book, finally! I read the first 40 pages quickly but I was so tired that I had to stop and get in a few zzz's.

I did like The Notebook, it was a very quick read (my first Sparks read). I picked up Dear John to read this summer.

I did finish Her Fearful Symmetry... Weird. The whole book was weird. Different would be too nice to say, just weird. I did like the book up until the ending. I didn't like the ending at all. I was like what the He!! just happened. Everyone seemed to just walk away. Hmm...

Kate (katemreads) | 46 comments I just got it so I'll have to read fast. I saw the movie and I loved it, so I'm really excited for the book!

message 15: by Angela (new)

Angela B I'm kinda hoping to go see the movie tomorrow

I'm really enjoying this book. I'm bout the mid way point and I'm really liking how the dad is playing his cards with Ronnie. Wow, the bro is pretty smart for being so young.

*I'm off to read some more!*

Elyssa, I agree about Her Fearful Symmetry. Very strange book, was very disappointed in it.

Dara | 85 comments I really enjoyed The Last Song, and have with the several Nicholas Sparks books I have read. But I know they aren't going to be any literary genius, just easy, feel good books. So that is what I expect.

It is nice to have good fun feel good reads. You don't always want to pick up a book because of the literary worth. But for the satisfaction of reading a book that makes you happy.

message 20: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm done with this book and let me just say; this is one of my new favorite books. Thanks to all of you who voted for this book, otherwise I never would of read it.

My eyes welled up in a few spots and I was happy about the ending. I really liked how some of the things that happened caused a life altering change for the better in the characters. Ronnie developed throughout the book. I'm sure the book could of easily been longer to slow down the development. Marcus was smart and clueless. Blaze, well, I'm sorry it took such drastic measures to get her to realize that she was headed down the wrong path. Will was a hunk and I wish I could find a guy like that. The dad was amazing. I like the way he was with Ronnie and Jonah. He was dying but still tender. He was savoring his whole summer with his children. I can't believe what the mother did.

message 21: by **Carla** (new)

**Carla** I wont have it read for May 15th but I will have it done by the end of May.

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

That is good. Have you read any of the book yet? or seen the movie? It is such a good book. Well, I found it to be. I've been hearing that several sparks fans (my friends) like Dear John way better. I'm still gushing over The Last Song. I'll have to wait awhile before I get to Dear John.

message 23: by KSMary (new)

KSMary I picked it up from the library this week... finally... but haven't been able to start it yet. Hopefully, tomorrow or this weekend.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

Looking forward to some discussions once you ladies dive into the book.

message 25: by Andrez (new)

Andrez (andrez-ssi) i couldnt get it in time...oh well ill read it with atbynr

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

That is ok. We can discuss after the date.

message 27: by **Carla** (new)

**Carla** I love this book...movie was pretty good too except I think the part of Ronnie should have been played by someone other thatn Miley...although Greg Kinear was perfect for Steve..he is a wonderful actor and I even had a picture of Steve in my mind that was very similar to Kinear!!
