I think Stefan is terribly sweet, but as he's a vampire (and has been for a very long time), he doesn't tend to show it in ways that are recognizable/acceptable. He has made some pretty substantial sacrifices for Mercy and he obviously has really strong feelings for her. I missed him in Silver Borne, and apparently we will see little if any of him in the next book as well. =(

Stefan kind of scared me in Blood Bound. But I can see he cares for Mercy. I think that motivates him to do good. He seems somewhat morally ambivalent. But, I can see he does keep himself under tight control, so maybe there is good in him outside of trying to help Mercy.

He'd never be right for Mercy (Adam and Samuel aside), as there are only so many of his vampire tendencies that he can overcome. I think he's brilliant though and he will always be there for Mercy if he can (though not necessarily in the way that she'd want him to be - LOL).

I ADORE him. I think he's my favorite character in the series, though I really like most of them. Maybe I like him so much because I see the potential for a very complex background but he's still a mystery. I love the fact he's not perfectly good. I know, that's weird, but excessive goodness irks me. It's like Zee, for instance, he's not purely good either but still very likable.
I don't think he's right for Mercy (I was very conflicted for a while) but I would love if Briggs could do something like Jeaniene Frost started doing with her Night Huntress Series. She created a separated series, spin off, to tell the stories of interesting characters that don't exactly fit into the heroine's life. I'd love to get something like that about Stefan.

Agree with you completely. Missed him in Silver Borne and thought he was the best thing in Bone Crossed (also not my favorite book). I think he deserves more space in the series but I feel like maybe Briggs still doesn't know what to do about him.

Personally I don't see him as manipulative. I think he's more closed off. And on his shoes I think I'd be the same. He doesn't like being a vampire and Mercy is quite judgemental about him. She started out with a pre-conceived image on vampires, and though she treats him a little better, she is harsher on him than on other creatures in her life. In Blood Bound, she even gets to blame him for something that would be done, no matter what, but if it had been done by Bran, for instance, she wouldn't have held it against him (hope you understood that, I did my best not to use spoilers).

I agree with you. I think the way Briggs shows flaws in her preternatural creations is a great trait. BUT I think she's a bit too hard on the vampires. Or she makes Mercy to be. They are awful mean creatures, but all the others are as well. They all wrinkle their noses when it comes to the vampires, but personally if I'd been part of her universe I'd be much more afraid of the fae, for instance.
I like Stefan's character! He's definitely got a lot of depth to him, and is one of the most complex vampires I've ever read about.
I think he's sort of got a Samuel quirk where he pretends to be something that he's not. "like he's reading from a scrip" is the way PB usually puts it.
And I love the mystery factor! You never know what he's going to do next. I love that he could either be the good, or the bad guy. And in the end, you'll never know which it is. :)
I really like the Marsillia (sp?) and Stefan relationship. I'm a sucker for those complicated story lines. :D
I think he does use Mercy a lot, and mainly does it to make Marsillia jealous. And I like that Marsillia shows some vulnerability to that - at the very end of the 4th book.
Very interesting. It'd be awesome to see some more of him!

I Like Stefan he has never change the way he acts around Mercy and stand to his principles when Mariya did him wrong he left her.
But I am still wondering does he want more out of the friendship with Mercy?

Stefan is one of my favorites!! I honestly think NO. I think he just wants a friend who he can trust who likes him for him and Mercy happens to be that person.
@Dawn you could be very right in that and hope there friendship stay strong

Fingers crossed :-)
