Tera I read this and GWTW together one summer. Both excellent books. This one was so riveting and what a saga spanning so long and weaving in so many characters and their stories. I loved this book. I've never seen the mini series other than bits and pieces but the book was great.

Santina (littlesaintina) | 45 comments This book has been on my to-read list for like 10 years. There is evidence that my ancestors were slaves, and this is the reason I believe I keep putting it off. I keep wanting to read it, but I'm so afraid it'll be too hard for me. I have told myself this is the year. My goal is to force myself to have it finished by Jan 1 2009.

I can totally see myself on a research addiction after that. I have already linked our family name to a plantation in Atlanta. Whether my ancestors were there or not, we can never know for sure, but it's almost a certainty they were.

Melissa I read this book in high school. My choice, not an assignment. I love this book and I watched the tv miniseries made from it. It was hard for me though because all of this happened to people and what an ugly part of history it all is. This book has stuck with me. It is very well written and is truly worth reading.
