So if you have just read Lady Susan, do you have a new Austen favorite?

It is believed that Jane was writing Lady Susan in 1794, when she would have been 19 years old. Impressive.

Additionally, The Mysteries of Udolpho by Ann Radcliffe was published that same year -- a note of interest due to our continuing Udolpho discussion here on JA Group.

I hope you join us in discussing this one-of-kind Austen jewel.

Lani (lani14) | 57 comments I've just finished listening to the book on my iTouch. What delicious story! I can almost picture Lady Susan as a southern steel magnolia; a prototype of Scarlett O'Hara. I want to talk about the ending but I will wait till more people have finished it.

Austen packed a lot of story into a small number of pages, didn't she?

I will start a couple of threads which may include spoilers, and you can begin your comments any time you want.

I was gone all day, but I hope to jump in soon! It's a quick read and I remember enjoying it the last time I read it.

I've started re-reading it and am remembering how cheeky it is! I can't wait to finish it and really get into the discussions!
