I'm pretty new to GR and i have a question that isn't really related to the group but I wanted to ask someone who knows the ropes :). How come you can only rate a book to whole numbers? I've just read a book and would definatley give it a 3 1/2 star rating but obviously cannot do it, any ideas why the books are rated this way? Sorry, I know this is soooo not the right place for the question but once somethings irritated me I kinda have to just find out more information form a superior source, Thank you regardless
Becca

Jen is absent. If she isn't back I'll just post up the MArch group reads. I usually do these kinda things for her when she;s gone. There should be a nomination thread fro April. I'll check.

EDIT: Actually, more Mod involvement to try and help people get more involved would be a good start, i suppose. I mean, people are apart of the group, but we're very much singular too. Back to the "What are you reading" bit, every entry is simply people posting what they are reading, there is no conversation and questions like "Oh so-and-so, i see you just read such-and-such. Is it any good? What about for someone my age? or my twelve year old?" I mean, we're here, but not really. I guess that's my main beef. you can't really make friends on here because no one is really involved, unless you're playing game or something.

I agree with Mariya. You go a 1/2 point above what you would give it, and then clarify in the beginning of your review, typically using HTML to make it bold so it stands out. ^_^ And btw, any questions, feel free to ask, if I don't know, we'll figure it out together, lol.

Can we create a chat thread? We seem to get out of topic on the game threads and other areas?

You are fine Shera. Don't worry. You get back to us whenever you can. You have a lot of members. :)

I'll check if there is a code that people are using.

I understand that you ask all members for suggestions, but maybe you can find a way to shorten the final lists, because it's difficult and discouraging to read about all those books, choose which you like and at the end never get it, so why bother?!
I think it's one of reasons why you get only about 200 votes for a poll in a group of 5000 members and as a result "monthly group reads" section is quite slack. In my opinion, 7 books for each list is maximum.

I totally understand Lena. I've gotten bummed out about certain books not making it either, plus it is hard to vote for all those goodies.

I'll step it up, they've been starting to annoy me too.

Jen. I loved the cyber cake, it kept me going.

Post as you read, post after you read, whatever!!
Just make sure you use spoiler tags.

I realize YA has a huge selection of paranormal books and is not necessarily just for one age group. But, would be nice to keep it by itself. I keep seeing lots of YA on polls, nominations, threads, etc. It's a large enough category can be by itself. Could also ease the number of nominations to vote for on polls by breaking some off into a poll on their own.

Or in other operating systems and browsers, you might try to right-click to get a menu to open book in new tab/window. On a lot of touchscreen devices (including iPads), hold (press down continuously) on the book image/link to get to menu to open in new tab.

I'm wondering if we could please have a "Upcoming" section for our reading selections as done by the group Beyond Reality?
I think its a great reference point.
Thanks. :)

I see its been done! Yay!!! Thank you. :)

I had a question to which I was hoping someone would have ananswer. If I had a book recommendation, where would I post it?

Recommendations wanted!!
Or you can post about books you really liked here:
What are you reading?
or here:
Recommend a book/series
Hope that helps.

I thought I had signed up for 2013 A-Z title challange, is the thread around somewhere? or am I going a bit more crazy?
Thanks :)

Let's use you're current Message 44 as an example. Say you wanted to add something to it or edit it. Down in the right bottom corner there are:

I wanted to know if this was just my problem or if others are having this problem also, but if you click on the "Spoiler" link to view what's under the cut, what is supposed to happen? Nothing happens when I click on it.

but how does one link a challenge widget? I can't find anything.
The best I could do was delete all my Goodreads personal profile and type instructions on how to find a book challenge using ctrl- f and names of the topics. I kind of like it now with all my personal info gone though!
