Shannon Help! As a child, I used to read a book (or possibly series of books) about a boy whose uncle was a wizard. (No, it's NOT The Magician's Nephew). I think the uncle was teaching him magic.

It was a chapter book with a few pencil-like drawings at the beginning of each chapter, I think. It was maybe for children in 2nd-4th grade.

Anyone know the book(s)?

I don't know, and if nobody else in this group knows, or you can jump the gun and cross post, you can also post in this group:

What’s the Name of That Book?

Mindy (aaingeal) | 1 comments I think the book you are looking for is Magic Grandfather by Jay Williams. I was looking for this one too and wasn't sure this was the right one until the description mentioned that the boy finds a circle with a star in the middle in his grandfathers house. I loved this story!

Jay Williams is a great author, and was indeed active & popular in the 70s. I'll be looking for The Magic Grandfather!

Tricia Douglas (teachgiftedkids) | 312 comments I need to hit more of the used book stores but so many in my area have gone out of business. I ordered a copy from Amazon ofThe Magic Grandfather and it definitely wasn't $1! I'm really liking how my vintage book selection is growing due to Goodreads!!!!!

The House with a Clock in Its Walls is one I've been meaning to read but had forgotten to add to my shelves here - thanks for the reminder!
