message 8: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Updated! Some more books added, and some marked as read. Links also fixed as for some reason they took me to the wrong links, or the right links but in a different language...how odd!

message 9: by Angie (new)

Angie (just-me) | 27 comments What a great challenge (to read all the unread books on your shelf), I should do this too, but my list would be a lot longer. I don't know if I can do it in a year. Maybe I'll try. Thanks for the inspiration.

Tera (TheBookishAbyss) This is a good idea. I inherited a library when my grandmother died and have shelves of books I have not even touched in the last two years since organizing what I could keep. I did just restart her Anne Rice collection, which was her favorite. The anniversary of her death is coming up, so I try to read Anne Rice in November just to feel close to her...

message 11: by Mads (new)

Mads Wow, that's really sweet, TeraD. When my mother passes away I'll probably inherit most of her library, so maybe I should start reading Georgette Heyer (I can't say she's ever been into the supernatural).

Rachel, are you a part of the tbr-reading-challenge group? It's a lot like what you're doing, only...slower-paced. :)

message 12: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) I have to admit, I stole the idea for this off Nan, another member of this group who is also trying to read all the books on her shelves! However, I keep buying more so this challenge is going to take me a while!

I'm not part of that challenge but I'll definitely check it out!

message 13: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) More read...and more added... Oops!

message 14: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) One more read :)

Forgot to add, I plan to read all of these books by the end of May 2009. Since I think I started this challenge at the start of June 2008 that will nearly be exactly a year! How coincidental. The reason for wanting to finish these books by then is that I'm going to Germany for a couple of months over the summer, and then will be moving away to go to Uni in September 2009, so I don't want a massive TBR to take with me. Especially if I'm going to St. Andrews, where there are LOTS of bookshops and charity shops!

So, date for this challenge is now June 2008 - June 2009.

message 15: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Two more read!

message 16: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) Christmas = more books.

:)

message 17: by Rachel (new)

Rachel Brand (pixieauthoress) A few more taken off...but I've yet to add my new books. Oops? I just can't resist the lure of BookMooch... :)

message 18: by Dianne (new)

Dianne Sagan (diannes) This is a really good challenge for me - lol. As with most of you, I'm always getting more books. I have read many of them, but there are still quit a few I have not read yet. I think I'll work on this and see how far I can get by the end of the year. I'm currently reading a book that was published in 1948 - The Big Fisherman by Lloyd C. Douglas ( also wrote The Robe, Magnificent Obsession among others). It was a copy that belonged to my grandma.
Happy reading to everyone!
