If you were casting the Mercy Thompson series who would you pick?

I see Adam a bit like Clive Owen a few years ago.

That's a really good question. I'd have to think on my answer. I love the characters so much, I'd only want the perfect actor cast as them. I haven't come up with an actor I could see as Mercy yet.

I think this new chick, Gemma Arterton, from the Prince of Persia movie has a Mercy like look to her but dont really know how she acts.

Yeah I'm not sure how she acts so she might not have the right personality for Mercy but I loved the picture of her.

Not sure WHO I see as Ben. Since who I see is a boy I went to school with. And yes, he DID have an English accent. It was an Internation School in Athens, Greece. There were kids there from just about every country in the world.

I can see Jennifer as Mercy if she grunged up a little bit. But not Adam Brody as Adam. Too young and baby faced. I like Julie as Honey! Jackman as Bran = wow. I never thought about him but he'd make a good one!

I agree with the Jackman as Bran. Except, well, he's starting to get too old. No way can he pass as a college kid any more. And Jennifer Connelly is just too fair skinned to be Mercy.

Mercy is definitely not white and not pretty. She is very honest in how she describes herself -- difficult to find an actress to play her. :) But I think she is definitely not Gemma Arterton. I am trying to think of some indie movies that may have cast an actress who could play her.

I have to disagree. MERCY thinks she isn't attractive. She doesn't fix herself up and she's a greasy mechanic, but that doesn't mean she is ugly.

Not pretty is not the same thing as ugly. :) I never said ugly. Briggs is clear throughout the books that Mercy assesses herself -- smooth skin, thick shining hair, but not pretty. Which again doesn't mean ugly. But she isn't hot, she isn't gorgeous -- men find her appealing, but it is her personality, her charisma and her physical presence (and very in shape body). In Silver Borne, both Ben and Adam laugh at the idea that Mercy would be eye candy and Mercy asks, "What am I?" And Adam answers (love it) "Mine."

"Not pretty" does not have to be a negative thing.

If you look at other pictures of Gemma Arterton, she is very definately lily white! Not really the look for Mercy. Same with Danica.

I also just want to say -- it is all so subjective! I was thinking on the train on the way home that Briggs has created such full characters for us all to have -- lol -- such different impressions!

What about Kristen Kreuk for Mercy? She was pretty good in the Street Fighter movie. Not really how I picture Mercy when I read the books though.

She's perfect! Thanks for the idea...I was struggling to replace the cover images, which I'm not fond of.

I also think Michelle Rodriguez would be great as Mercy. While she's described as not being pretty, I think that's meant to say she doesn't have the traditional characteristics that people think of but an uncommon beauty that you find men attracted to. Don't know if this makes sense but Michelle seems to fit that bill. And, she's one tough woman.

I agree w/ Danni and Jonetta. I love Michelle Rodriquez! Mizuo looks like someone I would have pictured in my mind for Mercy. I think M.R could pull off the roll, but I would be worried she may be too dominate.

Ok Sherri--who is the N.A.? He is sexy, but not quite right for Charles. And why are you limiting your choices to "current" actors/models? Since there is Magic in Mercy's world, why not just pick anyone, regardless of when they were active and declare them to be were-wolves now, so back to looking like they did then?

Now, I DID like your pick for Daryl. I can see him in that role. But the Mercy you picked out that looks like she's in a marathon or something (the black Danica t-shirt gal) doesn't look right either. And the other girl is way too Indian looking--Mercy said that most people think she's Hispanic, so we need to be checking out people who look Hispanic.

Those were just MY picks.

I did like looking at your gallery Sherri--I always like to see what other people imagine characters as. Of course, I don't tend to have a "real" picture in my mind of what they look like. What I have are a picture of what they SOUND like. (I know, not really a picture, but, well, how else would you describe it?) I was 8 when I got my first pair of glasses--and they were bifocals. So I learned to listen to VOICES to tell who people were. And as a result, I have a hard time with putting faces on people when I read. But I have very definate ideas on what they should SOUND like. I know, I know--I'm weird.

At any rate--you did a really NICE job of your selections, except for my 3 complaints.

These are great! I pictured Mercy more like Julia James but I think that Mizuo Peck is what Briggs intended her to look like.

Someone with exoticism and beauty, Julia Jones sort of comes close.

Like the list, Dalia. I don't see Michelle Rodriguez as Mercy, but everyone has their own visions when they read a book. Sometimes they don't even fit the author's. :)

I can see some Adam in Sean Faris, Dalia and Nate Archibald does have the look of Bran about him.

What about Genevieve Cortese[Padalecki] as Mercy?
