Rachel | 39 comments Time to start a new month.

I just finished the new Laurell K Hamilton book Blood Noir. I like it much more than some of her recent ones. There were a couple there that were more sex than plot, but she is coming back.

I'm reading The Paper Doorway by Dean Koontz

I'm reading Trunk Music by Michael Connelly.

message 4: by Sherry (new)

Sherry (ninneschong) Still reading my May (month) Reads. But blowing through quite a few audiobooks. Just finished The Thirteenth Tale (which was amazing) and started Memoirs of a Geisha.

I decided not to bother with more of the Flipsides, they've been mediocre reads. Will hopefully finish the Harry Potter series this month and *gulp* start the last two books of Gabaldon's Outlander Series.

So many books, so little time...

message 5: by Collette (new)

Collette (vwbernie) | 24 comments I'm reading Hostile Makeover by Ellen Byrerrum. I guess it would qualify as a cozy mystery? It's funny, witty and sarcastic so it's right up my alley. This is the 3rd in this series. I love her books.

Right now, I'm reading Savannah Breeze by Mary Kay Andrews, I think next will be Ill Wind and probably the rest of the Blood series by Huff.

message 7: by Tammy (new)

Tammy (crystalrose) | 28 comments Right now I'm reading Outlaw Mountain by J.A. Jance.

message 8: by Holly P (new)

Holly P (hlp0221) Trunk Music is a good one! Have you read the Concrete Blonde? I am still reading Lady of Sherwood but I should be finished with it this weekend. After that I'll be finishing Harry Potter 2. I requested Rhett Butler's People from the library but for some reason it is taking forever to make it to my library for pick up (which I completely don't understand because its showing they have one on their shelf!) Like Sherry said, so many books so little time...

Rachel | 39 comments Sherry~
I just got Thirteenth tale from PBS. I need to get through a couple of others before I tackle it though.
I really like the Outlander series- although they are long books.

Sherry (ninneschong) Rachel,
I hope you enjoy The Thirteenth Tale as much as I did!

The books are huge! I read the first book in 4 days (back when I didn't have kids), the second book took me a little longer - a week I think - and then the next two I had to spread out over a few months... I haven't decided if it's the time I have to dedicate to reading each of Gabaldon's books or the shipping price when I do finish them that has put me off reading them! Have you read all the books?

I started 'The Summerhouse' by Jude Deveraux. I'm doing a lot of audiobooks these days. I have one of those jobs I can sit at my desk, plug and tune out.

message 11: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 39 comments I have -- but I got them all from the library. I don't like her new Lord John books as much as the Jaime and Claire books.

message 12: by Mel (new)

Mel I finished Honk and Holler Opening Soon by Billie Letts. I really enjoyed it. Now I'm off to something different "Mary called Magdalene" by Margaret George.

message 13: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm reading Mayflower by Nathaniel Philbrick.

message 14: by Sherry (new)

Sherry (ninneschong) Citizen Girl by McLaughlin/Kraus
A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole

message 15: by [deleted user] (new)

Mister B. Gone by Clive Barker

message 16: by Lori (new)

Lori (lhmosca) Yesterday I finished and was very disappointed in Dream Country by Luanne Rice. Normally I love her books. Today I'm reading Summer People by Elin Hilderbrand. SHe's a new author for me and so far it's good. Not great, but good.

message 17: by Sherry (new)

Sherry (ninneschong) *still* reading HP Book 6 (but making progress).

I just started A Hunger Like No Other by Kresley Cole. If you like paranormal romance (like Karen Marie Moning), you'll love this one! I can't seem to read fast enough!

I started Girl With A Pearl Earring (audiobook) at work, but things have been busy so I haven't had much chance to listen.

message 18: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm reading The Good Guy by Dean Koontz

message 19: by Mel (new)

Mel (lefty4) | 7 comments Hi Konnie-

I would love to read that book. Can you let me know how you liked it? Maybe we can work out a trade since I have no credits.
Your Friend,
Mel

Mel (lefty4) | 7 comments Hi Everyone-

I am reading Strange Highways by Dean Koontz. I will let you know how I like it.
Your Friend,
Mel

message 21: by Holly P (new)

Holly P (hlp0221) I am reading Darkly Dreaming Dexter by Jeff Lindsay. I've seen every episode of the showtime series so far and I love it. I usually read the books first and then watch because books are usually better but I didn't even know the show was based off the book until I was already done watching the 1st season. So far the book is about the same as the show :)

message 22: by Sherry (new)

Sherry (ninneschong) Holly~
I have the books on "read someday list" and have been watching the first season via NetFlix. I haven't been impressed yet - but then, I'm a huge CSI fan so maybe I'm biased. Everyone I know has seen the show then read the books, they say the show is better. Keep us(me) posted when you've finished the book, I'd like to hear your review.
Thanks!
~Sherry

message 23: by Rachel (new)

Rachel | 39 comments I'm reading the new Black Dagger Brotherhood book. Very good so far. .
I haven't heard of the Darkly Dreaming Dexter book or series. I will have to search it out.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm reading Power Play by Joseph Finder.

message 25: by Holly P (new)

Holly P (hlp0221) Sherry I finished the 1st Dexter book and although it was good I agree with those who say the show is better. Usually its the book that is more detailed but in this case there was more plot to the 1st season of the show than there was the 1st book. Now I am going to start the 3rd in the Harry Potter series: Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkabahn.

message 26: by Sherry (last edited Jun 22, 2008 08:36PM) (new)

Sherry (ninneschong) WoooHoooo! Finally finished HP Book 6! I'm ready to start Book 7.

Also started the second book in Kresley Cole's IAD series: No Rest For the Wicked

Audiobooks: will finish A Girl with a Pearl Earring tomorrow. I picked up Plum Lucky by Janet Evanovich at the library today, so have that to look forward to also!

Holly ~ Thanks for the update! I'll take that into consideration when/if those books come up on my read list.

message 27: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm reading The Appeal by John Grisham.

message 28: by [deleted user] (new)

I'm reading Made From Scratch by Sandra Lee.

message 29: by Mel (new)

Mel This is my slowest reading month ever. I finally finished the Dim Sum of All Things which was pretty funny and interesting. Now I am reading the Bookseller of Kabul.
