You might need to do a little toiling for this task but I don't think you will have too much trouble. On August 7,1606 William Shakespeare's Macbeth was performed publicly for the first time (at the Great Hall at Hampton Court). In honor of this event and this famous line you will need to read 2 books that...

A. Have the same title but are written by different authors (EXAMPLE: Twilight AND Twilight)
OR
B. Have very similar covers...(EXAMPLE: Keeper of Light and Dust by Natasha Mostert & Still Life A Novel by Joy Fielding )

If you need suggestions OR have suggestions for books to read for this task post them here.

I accidentally ran across a pair - I read a review of The Red Thread: A Novel, which sounded interesting. When I looked it up on Goodreads, I found The Red Thread.

There are lots out there- it takes a little work to get to them
Burned by Ellen Hopkins,
Burned by P.C. Cast,
Burned by Carol Higgins Clark,
Burned by David Hagberg

Last Call by Tim Powers
Last Call: A Novel of Suspense by James Grippando
Last Call by Laura Pedersen
Last Call by Morgan Burke
Last Call by D.J. Manly

Inside Out by Terry
Trueman

Inside Out by Larry Crabb
Inside Out: A Novel by Barry Eisler

I went to my TBR shelf, found a common title or phrase, then looked it up in my library's online collection by title.

message 14: by Cait (new)

Cait (caitertot) | 648 comments Would Winter's Tale by Mark Helprin and The Winter's Tale by Shakespeare qualify, or does the 'the' disqualify it?

I might do The Double by Saramago and The Double by Dostoevsky.

message 15: by Liz M (new)

Liz M Does the title need to the EXACTLY the same or do these work?:
Deep River by Shusaku Endo
Deep Rivers by Jose Maria Arguedas

Or I could just tackle these two:
Justine by Marquis de Sade
Justine by Lawrence Durrell

message 17: by Jennifer (new)

Jennifer (jml_417) Would Lost and Found by Carolyn Parkhurst and Lost & Found by Jacqueline Sheehan work for the same title?

message 18: by Cynthia (new)

Cynthia (pandoraphoebesmom) | 1332 comments The titles need to be exactly the same (no extra words, no pluralization, no substitution of symbols for words).

What about subtitles? I planned to read The Red Thread and The Red Thread: A Novel

message 21: by Petra (new)

Petra I plan to read The Night Watch by Sarah Waters and The Night Watch by Sean Stewart.
Stewart's book seems to be a futuristic Canada and Vancouver & its Chinatown are mentioned. I'm curious now.

message 22: by Usako (new)

Usako (bbmeltdown) | 1256 comments There's a couple of umbrella covers that look alike esp the classics -- http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/36...

You could do searches for things like - cats, dogs, handbags, no heads and find covers that are similar in that light.

The no heads one is FUN! http://www.goodreads.com/list/show/29...

Would the re-telling series classify as similar covers? They're all headless women with a medieval dress.

The pictures on the cover aren't similar so not really.

message 40: by Nicole (new)

Nicole | 1295 comments Cynthia,

Are you looking for a picture similarity only, or does the picture AND the color need to be similar?

Thanks!
