I dont know if im the only person that does this, but after i finish reading a book, it looks like its been dragged through a hedge backwards. Im always breaking the spines of them, which leave those marks on them. I try really hard to keep them in good condition but i just cant!!! what about you guys?! (:

message 2: by [deleted user] (new)

lol! i wish i could, my vampire diaries series is really neat though (:

message 3: by [deleted user] (new)

lol if i had to do that for all of my books, id be soooo poor!

message 4: by [deleted user] (new)

I have to keep my books looking perfect, most of them look brand new!

message 6: by ~Perisi Kitty~ (new)

~Perisi Kitty~ . (haikudancer) | 432 comments I really look after my books. When I was younger I used to cover the books with clear plastic to prevent them from breaking. Lol I gave up on that when I got older but there is just one thing I can't stand is when a book's page start to go yellow. that creeps me out.

My pages dont go yellow, but I break the spines i always do!! I tried really hard with the vampire diaries, and they look nice. I take my books everywhere. In the bath, in my bag, in the park. No wonder they get messed up!!!

message 8: by ~Perisi Kitty~ (new)

~Perisi Kitty~ . (haikudancer) | 432 comments lol. When you borrow other people's book. Im sure that doesn't happen.

~Perisi Kitty~ . (haikudancer) | 432 comments ugg! I hate the libraran! She must just jump into a lake!!! Im never taking out books from there ever!

message 11: by [deleted user] (new)

why?

message 12: by ~Perisi Kitty~ (new)

~Perisi Kitty~ . (haikudancer) | 432 comments 2 incidents. First, I took out a book to read for some little kid then I returned it then a few weeks later. She accuses me of stealing the book and not returning it. I told her I didn't so then she was like the system...blah..blah. So then I ended up having to bring a book to indemify the so called lost book. Next week she found it in some classroom and she told me and she didn't even apolgise to me!

Secondly, I took out a book two years ago and then she comes to me saying I haven't returned it but I returned 2 years ago but no apparantly I'm lying. Meanwhile some girl took it and left the school and she blamed me so she forced me to pay her money for the book.
so that is my experience with the libraran.

Omg, I do that too! I've never known anyone else to do it and all my friends think I'm weird for wrapping books up in plastic! But it really keeps the book in good condition, so I'm still doing it!
Your librarian sounds horrible, I've never really had any horrible library experiences but I still don't like going there because a lot of the books there are in disgusting condition and it puts me off wanting to touch them!

message 14: by Mariya (new)

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) haha. it happens after i read them that they get a little outta shape. i knoe my night huntress book 2 book is so tore up. that's one reason i dont like paperback, they get in bad shape real quick. i hope they release hardcover for the night huntress series in the furure.

but i try my best to keep my books in good shape. but i'd have to say only 2 or 3 of my books look outta shape.

Yeah, my books are my babies, I hate people touching them! I lent one to some friends a while ago and it came back with the cover all creased and a phone number written on one of the pages, like they couldn't find paper so they just wrote it in my book or something. Now I don't lend my books to anyone!

And Layaal, I thought the Night Huntress books were really good!

message 22: by [deleted user] (new)

omg she wrote in your book? I want to kill my brother when he does that!!

message 23: by Mariya (new)

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) i dont let anyone touch them, and i wont let anyone borrow any of my books, b/c they r like mai babies.

message 24: by [deleted user] (new)

lol, i dont mind people touching them, as long as they are gentle!

message 25: by Mariya (new)

Mariya (cr6zym0nkeyiz) i dont trust anyone. unless i knoe them. like i knoe my brother likes to read as much as i do, he talks about me they better be in the same condition when i return them. lol.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

message 28: by ~Perisi Kitty~ (new)

~Perisi Kitty~ . (haikudancer) | 432 comments I have trust issues, I hardly let people lend my book. I did it once and I was like,"You better look after it."

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

i dont lend my books to anyone. They are MY books. They need to get their own books!!

message 30: by ~Perisi Kitty~ (new)

message 35: by [deleted user] (new)

well ive just got one of my friends to give it a go, shes reading Magic Under Glass (Magic Under, #1) by Jaclyn Dolamore but shes taking her time (:

message 36: by ~Perisi Kitty~ (new)

~Perisi Kitty~ . (haikudancer) | 432 comments do you own that book?

message 37: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 385 comments Mod
I only lend my books to one of my friends and that's because she loves reading as much as me, and she knows I get very upset if she ruins it so she's really careful with them. She still get a few creases on the spine sometimes but I can deal with those as long as it's not too bad.

message 38: by ~Perisi Kitty~ (new)

~Perisi Kitty~ . (haikudancer) | 432 comments I don't know how you can keep a spine clean. I always get 1 crease in the spine.

message 39: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 385 comments Mod
With some books, I can read it without creasing the spine. But if they're a really thick book then it's harder to aviod creases.

message 40: by ~Perisi Kitty~ (new)

~Perisi Kitty~ . (haikudancer) | 432 comments yes it is. You know what annoys me....people who fold the other side of the book when they read.

message 41: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 385 comments Mod
I hate that, it really damages the spine. But I hate it more when people fold the pages down to mark where they've read up to. Get a bookmark for God's sake!

message 42: by ~Perisi Kitty~ (new)

~Perisi Kitty~ . (haikudancer) | 432 comments oh ja!!! My friend does that and when I borrow her books, I am like,"omw!"

message 43: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 385 comments Mod
Makes me wana grab and iron and smooth the corners out, but then I might burn the book!

message 44: by [deleted user] (new)

~Just Some girl on a Carousel~ wrote: "I don't know how you can keep a spine clean. I always get 1 crease in the spine."

me too!!!!! (:

message 46: by ~Perisi Kitty~ (new)

~Perisi Kitty~ . (haikudancer) | 432 comments ja, they should make a iron for books. you can get rid of the creases and ears on the corners of the books.

message 47: by [deleted user] (new)

~Just Some girl on a Carousel~ wrote: "ja, they should make a iron for books. you can get rid of the creases and ears on the corners of the books."

Yes!!! And something to sort out broken spines!

message 48: by Catherine (new)

Catherine | 385 comments Mod
And something to stop the pages going yellow.

message 49: by Shannon (new)

Shannon I keep my books in great condition. If I love the book I buy it in HB. I loaned my Break Dawn book out once and when I got it back I had to donate it to a friend to use in her artwork then had to purchase a new one. Lesson learned. But the art piece was really cool.

I don't mind whether my books are hardback or paperback but I prefer to have all books in the same series one or the other. I usually read ebooks now, and if I like it then I'll buy the actual book.
