Hi all...just your friendly group mod, Isis FG, here.

Well, as most of you have seen, this group is very inactive. I created it probably like 2 years ago and there's not been much activity at all. I tried initially to get some stuff going, but didn't have any luck. So since then I've been letting the group linger, with people posting as they chose.

But I would like to try to boost the activity and interest in this group. So I'm asking for any and all suggestions, comments, etc about what we could do to get things going. Just drop a comment here and it'll be open for discussion.

Also, if you're willing, please consider inviting any GR friends who read HQ/Sil. THe more members, the more discussion we can get going. This group is currently at 96 members...not a lot compared to the other big romance groups.

Anyway, looking forward to hearing from you all.

~Isis FG

Dina (missdina) Hi Isis! I joined the group today and couldn't help noticing that things are indeed rather "calm" here, LOL. I invited some friends who like reading HQ/Sil books and created a poll, just to get me started. I'll try to come up with some suggestions laters. :)

Hey Dina! Thanks for joining and inviting others. Maybe we can get some chatter going. I've tried a bunch of times and had no luck :/

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 78 comments I think that a lot of readers are in the closet about their Harlequin love. But some of us are loud and proud about it. :)

LOL. There's no shame in reading HQ/Sil. I've been reading them since not long after I started reading romance.

And I guess because they are shorter stories that maybe don't leave as much an impact and there are so many on a monthly basis, they're not as good at inciting discussion. Who knows?

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 78 comments That could be the case with some readers. I've noticed they tend to be dismissed as not real books. :(

Dina (missdina) I agree. All - and I mean ALL - my friends make fun of my reading HQ/Sil books. I don't care. I enjoy reading them and I always will. :)

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 78 comments Me too, Dina.

Terri (clanmoran) | 10 comments I have a friend who just recently has decided I need an "intervention" b/c she is seeing me add so many Har/Sil books to my Goodreads lists!!! :-) I told her she is just JEALOUS!

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 78 comments They're afraid to be real! ;)

Melanie♥ (meliaann) Thanks Dina for the invite. I have been browsing around a bit. Love any discussions about HPs. This will be my third HPish group, but there is always plenty to share =)

Dina (missdina) I'm glad to see you here, Melanie. I know how much you love these books. :)

Bella Foxygobble (dcrain02) I would love to see a monthly read as a group of whatever is current. We could nominate, and then have a vote during the last week of the previous month? For example, last two weeks of August we plan for September. Some lines are not for everyone, so we would definitely have to have at least 2 options for the monthly read... some people do not like the Steeple Hill books... others don't like the Blaze, etc.

Another suggestions is to have a thread each month where we can share our favorite category romance read from that month.

I like the idea of sharing what we've read on the bookshelf to get recommendations... I don't think there is a group that does this actively using all the categories... although Danielle has a great group that does it for Harlequin Presents.

Danielle The Book Huntress (gatadelafuente) | 78 comments Thanks for the compliment, Dani. I like your ideas!

Mombo | 8 comments I was wondering if anyone read Romantic Times magazine and agreed/disagreed with their ratings?

Generally, for HQN Intrigue and Sil RomSusp, I've found that the ratings are generally spot on.

Since I don't read too many other lines, I'm wondering if other series ratings from RT mag would be a good way to get new readers to read them, too?

I know I have a hard time buying a Presents or Presents Extra title without a little nudging.
