"this is incredible, mom!" i said. andrew nodded.
"Well, thank you," she said, obviously pleased. "So, how was everyone's day?" she asked.
(well let's just go along with it!! Something might happen!! oh!! I'm excited!!! :D

"So, Andrew, how was your day?" my mom asked.
"Fine. I worked on stuff for summer study, and hung out with Mellissa."
Andrew does this thing called summer study, because he is really educationally advanced. he's only 16, and he has graduated, and is now working on college credits.
Mellissa is just his girlfriend. I really dont like her.
I continued to eat my stir fry, slowly eating it so I could savor the taste.

"It was great! Dr. Stien and i worked on a patient together today, and he asked me to dinner tomorrow night! so, of course i said yes, and he's taking me to that cute little pizzaria on South State street!"
Andrew looked angrilly at mom. i plastered on a fake smile, and tried to be happy.
"That's... great mom," i said, and put another forkfull of food in my mouth so she wouldnt ask me any questions. After i finished, i put my plate in the sink, and went back to my room. i sat down at my desk, and wrote and email to my friend Amanda.
'mandra- my mom is going out with some doctor from her clinic tomorrow, and andrew and i are not happy about it. i mean, my parents got devorced two years ago, and she's already back in the dating scene! i cant believe it. okay, well, it has been a while, but still. i really dont like it. luckily i'm going to my dad's house tomorrow, so i wont have to see this aweful doctor who's stealing my mom.
cassie'
Manda-
I still don't like it...
I still don't like it...

I can (kind of) understand where you're coming from, but you can't controll your parents lives. So, I think you should try and find the silver lining.
Manda-
You should be a psychiatrist. Thanks for the advise. Can you hang out tomorrow?
Cass-
Pretty sure. Call me then!
Cassie signed out and started to play around on the web.

HEY CASS! GET PACKING!
Why dad?
WELL, YOUR MOM WANTS YOU TWO TO COME UP TOMORROW AND SPEND THE NIGHT, SO SHE CAN HAVE 'PREP TIME' FOR HER DATE.
Can't we stay here?
WHY? YOU DONT WANT TO HANG OUT WITH YOUR OLD DAD?
i had to think quickly. i wanted to stay home so i could possibly intervene with mom's date, but i couldnt say that. i thought quickly.
I wanted to hang out with Amanda tomorrow.
SHE COULD COME UP HERE, IF YOU WANT.
Okay. See you tomorrow.
BYE, BABY GIRL!

/nothing much. how about you?/
/sounds like fun! a nice ecscape from my mom and brother./
/my brother is just generally a jerk, and my mom has started dating again. :(/
/so... are you going to come get me later? or should i just meet you at the slushie place?/
I closed my phone and set it back on my night table. I stood up, and exited my room, heading downstairs to tell my mom that i had plans.
"Hey, mom? Is it okay if i go out with Brandon and some other friends?"
"Yeah, sweetie. You have fun!"
I slipped on some shoes, and brushed my teeth, finishing off with some lip gloss just as there was a knock at the door.
"That's Brandon!" I said.
"See you later, sweetie!" my mom called back as i ran to the door. I opened it, and was face to face with Brandon. I smiled.
"Hey," i said.
"Hey," he said back. I shut the door, and we began walking off my porch.

"It's been good. I've been on a vacation, and I've been at a basketball camp most of the time."
"Oh. That sounds fun. Where did you go on vacation?"
"We went up to Calafornia. Hung out on the beach for a week. It was really fun."
"It sounds fun. The only vacation's I've been on are to my dad's place, but I wouldnt call that vacation, you know?"
He chuckled. "Yeah, maybe not."
We both headed for the car where I saw Kloey, Hannah, and Jacob sitting in the car.
'yes it is!' I protested an email back

Kloey's mom was sitting in the driver's seat, waiting to take us.
"I thought we were just going to get slushies," I said. The slushie place was just a few blocks away, deffinately not worth wasting gas on.
"Yeah, well, Kloey thought it would be more fun to head for ice cream."
"There's an ice cream place next to the slushie place."
"I know that, and you know that, but Kloey doesnt. And she is convinced that she knows where the best place is." I nodded.
Kloey was new to the neighborhood, and since the rest of us were always hanging around, she decided to join us. She was quite acclectic. She had crazy curly hair, and really blue eyes. She was an athlete, and so she was super skinny. She was one of those people who wouldnt change thier mind after they had decided on something.
"Hey," I said as I climbed into the car, squished between Hannah and Brandon.
"Hello," Kloey's mom said. I smiled and said hello back. Hannah immediately began chatting in my ear, but I would have much rather been talking to Brandon. I smiled and nodded to let Hannah know I was still listening, and snuck peeks of Brandon out of the corner of my eye.

We rode in silence for a few minutes, but to tell the truth, I think I prefered Hannah's babbling. It was heavy upon my ears. To releave myself of this, I rubbed my hands together and said, "So...anyone like to read fantasy books?"
It was as if I had said a swear word. Hannah looked at me with wide eyes, and Brandon just shook his head, almost sadly. "What?" I asked, confused.
"Who would read fantasy?" Brandon asked after some thought, "All those happy endings--"
"--we don't need to read about hapy endings," Kloey;a mom finished for him, "There are so many right here, in real life!"
I was starting to doubt her. Hello! I felt like shouting, My parents are divorced!
Instead, I just said quietly, "Oh."
"Cassandra!!" my mom called up the stairs.
my birth name is cassandra, but i prefer cassie, or sandra. most of my friends called me cassie, though.
"Yes, mom?" i called back.
"You need to come set the table! Dinner is ready!" she said. i exited my room, closing the door behind me, and walked down the hall to the stairs, and from there to the kitchen. my older brother, Andrew, was on the computer, researching something for 'summer study'. i grabbed three plates, and began to set the table.
my parents had been devorced two years previously, launching me into the love of books because of thier happy endings. every other week we went to our dad's house.
after i finished setting the table, i sat down, just as my mom opened a steaming pot of something.
