How to Promote YOUR book on Amazon discussion

Its amazing -- I woke up this morning thinking 'I wish there was some way to find people on Goodreads who will help each other click on Amazon Tags for us to have better numbers' - and Wow - I got led right to here! :)

So, lets start helping each other! I know we all agree with this amazing marketing principle!!

Hi Wendy! I went to your site above and saw you book, but you have not listed any "tag" words yet that you feel fit your book. You can go to your page and fill in the "Tag" words that you think describe your book. You can list 15 'tags' - or 15 descriptive words.
Then we can all go and check the tags, after you tell us that your Amazon page is ready. :)

I thank you for tagging 'angels' on my book! Will you please go back to each of my two Amazon sites and check "yes" on 15 tags on each of my books. We can check up to 15 word tags on each book, I think.

Alan, are you tagging lists as well? I've tagged yours and then went back and checked mine and you haven't tagged them yet. With Goodreads lists you can see everyone who has tagged your book (I don't think there is a way to do thiw with Amazon tagging).

I didn't find your book on the list you had linked the first time through, but I went in just now and did see it in the 50s range. I had tagged your book on Amazon from a previous thread.

Alan thanks - I know what you mean. I've voted for people who are page three of thier list which takes a bit of hunting. I do and look for the book name on each page to get me right there.

I'm not too sure how this works...still feeling my way through and have managed to put my book on the dog's list...a few other related lists...and created a list! Here is a link to my book on the dogs list, I guess the more votes I get the higher I rise on the list? If this is the case, then please vote for my book, Angel in a Fur Coat.

Sorry for the delay - I'm working on my time management skills with marketing my books.

So there's two areas that have to do with the TAGS and the first are tags that were there and I checkmarked the ones I agree with, then below that are the ones I added.

I'm not sure what else to do besides this.

Okay done! And I fixed the way I tagged Sharon's because I wasn't going through the full process. Okay so now I've got Jeffrey, Sharon and Kait - I'll keep moving down the list! :-)

Wendy, I just checked, and I've already tagged your books. But strangely, where you have "6" tags, when I look, it shows up as 5. I think that means you haven't actually bought a book through Amazon so you can tag, but it is only for your reference. To influence the tag counts that others see, you have to log in using an account where you've bought a book from Amazon. So if you haven't bought from Amazon, no point in tagging others (which wouldn't stop me from tagging you, don't worry about that). If you have bought from Amazon, maybe you used a different log in? To test to see if you are using the right log in, try "add a review". If it lets you, you're fine and your tags should count. If it tells you you can't review because you aren't a customer, that means your tags don't count.

Was that a bit too long winded? I hope I didn't confuse you more with my "helpful" explanation :-)

Voting on Goodreads lists has no such criteria.

Wendy, right - tagging and voting. This is an Amazon group so we're cheating a little by adding Goodreads voting requests. But hey, if you don't have a bit of flexibility as a strugling author, I think you'll break under the pressure :-) Anyway, if you put your book on any lists, I'd be happy to vote for them. Hi Laura - Thanks for the tag. This is such a great idea. And I'm glad you like my cover. My son is a graphic designer and he did all the graphics. We had a difference of opinion on the cover and he said "trust me on this." I'm glad I did.
