Slayermel | 664 comments I'm actually really happy about the Picture book part of this challenge, I rediscovered a book I had not read in a while, which is one of my favourites. It always has me laughing.

Oh, Slayermel, that looks fun, and I'd never heard of it! I think I'll replace Dilbert in my picture book list with it. :)

Slayermel | 664 comments I just finished Buffy the Vampire Slayer and it reminded me of how much I really love the original movie :0)
I'm going to have to go find it now, so I can watch it. It makes me wonder if the young kids now a day’s even know who Luke Perry is. *laughing*
I had the hugest crush and my dad used to tease me about his receding hair line

Slayermel | 664 comments I finished Narcissus in Chains very early this morning. I could not go to bed until it was done. :0) I really enjoyed it, even though the middle had a couple of parts that seemed to slow down and be somewhat repetitive. I feel like I have been reading this series for ever, #10 down! :0)

Sigh Luke Perry was sooo cute.

Slayermel | 664 comments I just finished reading Kick-Ass by Mark Millar and all I can say is "WOW".
It's definitely up there in my favourites now. Not for people who are squeamish or have weak stomachs. Even though it's a graphic novel and it's drawn, the images are quite graphic and violent.
On that note I'm not sure what that say's about me but I really enjoyed it. The characters were flawed and I liked them.

message 9: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Finished Fahrenheit 451 by Ray bradbury and it made quite the impression on me, feel free to stop by and read my review on my page.

message 10: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Finished another Buffy Book Visitors, and I really enjoyed it. It's not based off of an episode which is refreshing and it takes place in around season three which was one of my favourite seasons :0)

Slayermel | 664 comments I'm off right now, so all I have been doing is reading and going to the gym :0p

message 13: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Finished Grave Sight which is a mystery series by Charlaine Harris, I really enjoyed it. It has a touch of paranormal to it but not like Sookie. Harper Connelly was struck by lightning when she was fifteen, and now she can sense dead people, she can't communicate with them just is able to find them. So she contracts herself out to help find the bodies of missing people to bring closure to the families.

Slayermel | 664 comments Finished Mary Queen of Scots and I feel so proud of myself for finally completing it. Thanks to the monthly shelf I actually picked it up to read and this challenge just gave me more reason to finish it :0)

message 15: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Just finished Vengeance and really enjoyed it. This was a great series tie in and would have made an excellent episode.

message 16: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Finished Prophecies : Lost Slayer Serial novel Part 1 which is the first book in a 4 books series, and it was really good. Takes place around season 4 when they go off to College. :0) Can't wait to get my hands on the rest of the series.

Wahoo! Good for you! Was it good?

Slayermel | 664 comments Tina wrote: "Wahoo! Good for you! Was it good?

The information was very interesting and I learned a lot that I did not know before going into the book, which was great. However that being said it was a very dry read; there was no excitement in the writing so it took forever to get through.
I did like though that Antonia Fraser writes from the facts she discovers in her research and stays neutral. She does not seem to pick sides between Mary and Elizabeth like people tend to do. It allows you to form your own feelings for them.

Too bad it was a dry read w/o excitement. MQoS was quite the exciting woman ;) Glad you learned something at least. AND accomplished it!!! (I felt the same way after reading Marie Antoinette by Fraiser.)

message 20: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Just finished The Witches by Roald Dahl and I enjoyed it. It's a great adventure read for parents to share with their children.

message 21: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Just finished American Psycho by Bret Easton Ellis and I gave it ****

This was a very graphic book, that left me feeling somewhat confused in the end :0)

message 22: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Just finished The Lost City of Z: A Tale of Deadly Obsession in the Amazon by David Grann and I thought it was very interesting. You can read my review here

Slayermel | 664 comments I just finished Sh*t My Dad Says by Justin Halpern and gave it ****

You can read my review here

message 25: by Slayermel (new)

I found the book very interesting, especially since I had never heard of Chicago May before. You can read my review here

message 26: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Finished reading The Bedwetter: Stories of Courage, Redemption, and Pee by Sarah Silverman and really enjoyed it :0)

message 27: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Just finished Original Sins : Lost Slayer Serial Novel part 4 by Christopher Golden ****

A terrific conclusion to the 4 part Buffy mini series. You can read my review here

message 28: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Just finished reading American Vampire Vol. 1 and I give it ****

This is a graphic novel that was written in partnership between Scott Snyder and Stephen King. It's back to the old school murderous and vindictive vampire instead of the romanticized ones. You can read my review here.

message 29: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Just finished reading The Time Machine and give it **

This is on the list of 1001 books you should read before you did, and I have to say it is a very rare occasion for me when I actually prefer the movie over a book. You can read my review here.

message 30: by Slayermel (new)

Slayermel | 664 comments Finished The Last Olympian the other day and I give it *****

I have enjoyed this whole series and I definitely recommend it. You can read my review here.

message 31: by Slayermel (new)
