Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments All PNR and UF books take place in either an open or a closed world.

What's the Diff?
OPEN WORLD: magic and all things paranormal exist in the open, a given in the book’s world

CLOSED WORLD: magic and all things paranormal exist, but “behind closed doors”, hidden from humanity

Do you have a preference in your books or do you find both equally interesting?

If you were the "helpless human" in the book(s), would you rather know or enjoy ignorant bliss? (although I guess knowing could also provide it's own sort of bliss ... hehe)

Aske | 119 comments I would prefer closed world because it's more exciting that way. For all we know, all of these PN characters do exist. It's just a closed world :)

Steph (angel4492) | 32703 comments I like it, Aske. Anything's possible, right? :) I think it would be cool to know the others and be a part of their world some how too though.

Amber (crazyaboutbooks) | 499 comments I would have to say that I find both equally intresting in my books but, very glad to live in a closed world so far......

Laura Lulu (lauralulu) | 1603 comments I think I like reading closed worlds more--there's just something exciting & exclusive about it.

But then I think, hmmmm....is real life a closed world? Are there other Sookies out there having all the fun? Lol.

Christina I tend to prefer the open ones, I've noticed they have a more detailed worldbuilding, in general.
And it's fascinating to read about the dynamics of the supernaturals with the rest of the world, the politics and relationships, etc.

Not straight fantasy though, more like the regular uf setting post-change. (Kate Daniels, Sookie Stackhouse, Rachel Morgan..)

Nice!

I prefer the closed as well, but simply because should have have said powers (and I would be a hybrid were-witch) I would like to try and lead a "normal" human exsistence; rather than face pursicution.... just a thought.
