Ruth | 11076 comments ...weather can we expect. Some people have told me cold, some say hot, some say muggy. Weather.com waffles in the middle.

Will we need our brollies?

Melissa (melissaharl) | 1455 comments Mid-September in the Twin Cities tends to share in both seasons - days are summer-like, evenings and early mornings more like autumn. I couldn't get that Weather Channel link to predict September for me, only July and August. But it looks accurate for those months.

Normally it's a lovely time of year with pleasant temperatures, but some extra heat or coolness isn't out of the question, along with the possibility of rain showers. In other words, not all that predictable in comparison with the West Coast, but certainly not "cold" by midwestern standards.

Helpful, huh?

Ruth | 11076 comments So what are "summer-like" Minneapolis days like? When I lived in Inland California, that meant in the low 100s.

Melissa (melissaharl) | 1455 comments High 70s, often, with a typical range between about 72 and 85. Right now we're in a warm stretch, pushing 90 for a few days in row. Though that happens around Labor Day as well, it would be quite unusual by mid-September.

Ruth | 11076 comments That sounds idyllic, Philip.

Jane | 2247 comments Ruth, you Southern California person, do you even have a brollie?

message 7: by Ruth (new)

Ruth | 11076 comments In fact I have 3, Jane. So there!

Erin (erinskelly) | 780 comments What's a brollie? Slang for umbrella?

message 9: by Ruth (new)

Ruth | 11076 comments You got it, Erin.

message 10: by Melissa (new)

Melissa (melissaharl) | 1455 comments Shush with the brollie talk - naming calls!

Sarah Hart | 705 comments I'm coming, I'm coming! Flying in on Weds night, leaving Sunday morning. You'll have to share me with my family, but it will be a great weekend. Do we have any itinerary yet? That would be most helpful for me, splitting my time efficiently. I didn't see a topic.

message 12: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2294 comments I'm so glad to hear that you're going to be there, Sarah! I think the general itinerary is buried in one of the conference topics, but I can't remember which one for sure. I'll try to find it and come back with the info.

message 13: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2294 comments It's in Message 1 of the thread titled Information for Minneapolis Convention.

Sarah Hart | 705 comments Big smile to my two already-met friends, Sherry and Ruth. SO looking forward to 'renewing' acquaintance. Ruth, I'll be out your way again this weekend (Navy son on leave), but not enough time to swing down your way, so good thing we have September!

I'm not there anyway, Sarah. I'm up at our cabin north of Lake Tahoe.

Melissa (melissaharl) | 1455 comments That's great news, Sarah, I look forward to meeting you.

In a couple of weeks I plan to send an email to those who've said they are attending with an updated and more detailed schedule, with my cell phone etc.

message 19: by Sherry, Doyenne (new)

Sherry | 8261 comments That's great, Philip. We just made plane reservations. My husband's coming, too, but he'll be staying at our friend's house in Eden Prairie. I'd love to see the complete schedule, so he can decide what he wants to do with the group... probably meals, since he does like to eat and our friends are packing up to move to Portland. Lynn, you met those friends at my 60th birthday party. Do you remember Steve and Jane?

message 20: by Lynn (new)

Lynn | 2294 comments Oh yes, I remember them, Sherry. It's nice that Tom's going to get a chance to visit with them before they move to Portland.

message 21: by Jane (new)

Jane | 2247 comments Hooray, Sarah! I am so looking forward to finally meeting you.

message 22: by Sarah (new)

Sarah Hart | 705 comments Me too, Jane. It's appalling that we live so close together and have yet to meet. I'm also looking forward to the detailed schedule. It will be hard to choose amongst the restaurants, though!
