Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) The month of August brings a new challenge, and for some of us this dreadful thing called ~school~.

I have finally been able to come up with a challenge! So get ready, set, go!

For this month, participants can try to: Read a book where the main character is still in school.

So with this, I send you off to your bookshelves and the library! Happy Reading! :D

**Some of you may want to start reading early for this challenge. If so, you can start August-reading on July 29th, and the books will still count.**

Andrez (andrez-ssi) do summer vacations count?

message 7: by Zakiya (last edited Aug 08, 2010 11:55AM) (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Uhm... I guess. If they are going back to school after the summer, sure.

I usually just make a wishlist and go from there. Normally, the books on my list don't get read, besides one or two of them. We will see :). Right now, I'm halfway through Unbelievable, and will be starting Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry afterwards.

Lyra's Oxford by Phillip Pullman
A Mango-Shaped Space by Wendy Mass
and the others don't count

message 15: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Cool! Let me know how A Mango-Shaped Space is. Have you ever read Every Soul A Star (also by Wendy Mass)? I love that book!

message 16: by Aviva (new)

Aviva (newtimelord) | 551 comments I have read it, I own it!
I thought Mango-Shaped Space is very very good. It's an interesting topic, and it almost made me cry near the end.

Surviving the Angel of Death

message 19: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) That still counts! Is it good? The title is interesting.

I think I will stop doing the summaries, because I never seem to have time for long periods on the computer. Will try to keep them going though!

message 20: by Ayunda (new)

Ayunda (ayundabs) So far I've only read one book: Trading Faces

message 21: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Yeah, I haven't read but one either. MAybe I'll be able to finish a second one.

message 22: by Leanne (new)

Leanne (leanneisperf) hey Z, does The Clique series count 'cuz they are in school right??.... haha

message 23: by Zakiya (new)

Zakiya LadyWings (zladywings) Yeps!

So Leanne has finished The clique. I suppose :).

message 24: by Ayunda (new)

Ayunda (ayundabs) For this challenge, I've finished three books:

1. Trading Faces - Julia DeVillers
Most of the setting is at school!
2. Pukat - Tere Liye
A great Indonesian book about school and children!
3. Artemis Fowl - Eoin Colfer
Artemis is too smart for school, but he is a schoolboy.

Only three books, but at least I did the challenge! Yay!! :D
