yeah he's not shy about showing bella how he feels but i think he has a right. he stayed with her while edward was gone. he's just trying to be with her.

Edward definitely! Edward is the better person (if you can call vampires and werewolves people) and holds Bella's best interest in higher regard than Jacob does. Jacob is too much like a brother. Bella loves Edward much more deeply than Jacob. She has been horribly selfish in her relationship with Jacob and has always used him for those selfish purposes, especially in New Moon. I hope Jacob imprints soon so he can forget about Bella. I hope Meyer doesn't come back and say that Jacob imprinted on Bella but never told her.

No, he hasn't. If you check Stephenie Meyer's site, she says that he hasn't imprinted on her.

I'm team Edward all the way, but I do feel bad for Jacob. He was there for Bella when Edward left. If something happened to Edward, I could see Bella and Jacob working out, but Edward and Bella are clearly meant for each other. Although I personally wish he was a real person. Anyone else think the Twilight series should be a mandatory read for all boys? If a boy talked to me like Edward did to Bella, I'd swoon.

Chelsea: My husband read all three of the Twilight Saga books (on my recommendation). Here's what he got out of them....a few good action and fight scenes that should have been longer and a lot of fluffy dialogue and description you can skip over. I'm betting most boys are going to read these the same way. He didn't even notice the highlighted passages he was supposed to pay extra attention to (haha).

I say Edward because Jacob can't control himself, otherwise I would have chosen Jacob.

Sorry all Jacob lovers. But I'm voting for Edward. Though I do feel bad for Jacob. I just hope Bella would remain friends with Jacob in the end even though she might turn into a vampire.

jacob was made for her, they can have children, and he can pretect her just as well as edward, and he deserves her. He has been her safe harbor so long, he will allways be. Edward on the other hand needs to get a grip on some stuff and make up his mind. to me it sounds like edward and tayna are going to have an affair or sommthing, its just too clean. you know what i mean?

Okay Lori, you can't just steryotyp and say that all teenagers are selfish creatures. I'm fifteen and I try so hard to never put myself before others. I've always been like that because of how i was raised but i'm still a teenager! We're not all selfish! And i don't apreciate that you say we are, but we all have opinions and you had every right to say what you believe

Well, Lori, Naomi's right!! i mean, saying every teenager is like that is stupid!! I know a lot of people who are teens that would do anything in their power to help you before themselves!! I go to school with kids like that, I go to church with teens like that, and I even live with some! We are not all selfish! I've tried to live my life as best I could, and that means not being like that. So don't say that every teenager is selfish and has a right to be, because no one, no one at all, has a right to be selfish! That's what's wrong with the world!!...sorry, I know that's your opinion, or whatever, but it's really insulting!!

Okay, I'm sorry to have offended some. I could have worded my post differently. I wasn't trying to stereotype anyone. Here is what I think: When you are a teenager, you are in a unique time of life. You aren't a kid, you aren't an adult. You are at a point of life where you are trying to discover yourself and the world around you. You are also trying to discover where your life will take you. And make choices that will take you there. Your life and future are about you right now. I don't know if this is making sense. I guess I'm not using the word 'selfish' in a bad way. It can be, but I'm not in this instance.

lol, sorry to go crazy, I wasn't having the best day, and that just got to me...but anyway, don't worry about it. What you say makes since, and your right, we're trying to find out who we are. I just didn't take it like that at first, and I'm sorry.

But what your saying makes since, I just think the charactors were being very selfish in the bad way or whatever. I mean, using people, hurting people for their own advantage, it's selfish. That's what they were doing, so I agree. :))

Sorry, but I hate it when Stephenie Meyer portrays teenagers as snoby, cruel and idiotic teens. Anyway, not every teenager is like that. Some are very nice and will do everything in there power to help others.
Stephenie Meyer had to portray them like that. It's typical because Stephenie Meyer wants to sell good books and earn more popularity, so she made the charaters in the book act like that to make books more interesting.
I don't think Jacob and Edward deserve Bella and vise versa. Their all sometimes so selfish, and totally commited in suiciding themselves for the other.

Teens are extremely complex. And Meyer just can't grasp that complexity. She makes them one sided, and when they're selfish, they're selfish about ridiculous things.

bella in the book says that she is selfish, but in a way so is edward, nd hes over 100 yrs old. i dont think its fair if u say that bella is "selfish" bc she gave edward 2 options that she could dealw/ nd he picked the 1 that wuz bettr for him. that way both won. it wuz a compromise. neither wuz selfish.

How sad for you that you feel that way. Yeah, they are both obsessive/compulsive. But I have felt that way before, never wanting to have a certain person out of my sight.

Edward, who has never been controlling except when he was trying to keep her safe,(that was for Emma, above). He knew that jacob was in love with bella, and he still let her go to La Push once he knew she would be safe there...he allowed Jacob in the fight for bella, he didnt have to...he WAS more fair then jacob, because a piece of him believes that bella might be happier with jacob...but he definately loves her more then jacob does...he is the one that loves her more then himself.

jacob is selfish and closed minded and doesnt care what bella wants, only what he wants, which could be due to his immaturity. and he promises her a life he may not be able to give her..if he imprints...because we KNOW he hasnt imprited with bella...edward knows that too...he cant garantee her the life that Edward can...he cant garatee to always be there for her...and she wouldt be with him for the right reasons...she would only be with him to be able to see charlie and Renee.

Edward doesn't care about what Bella wants.He watched her when she was sleeping. Sleeping! Do you honestly think he could stay away from her if she was with Jacob? He would watch her complusively, everyone knows that. And it wouldn't be for the wrong reasons, she loves him. Thats the only reason you can justify Edward and Bella's relationship as well.

but @ least edward is careful w/ bella nd doesnt want her 2 get hurt, wich is good, but then he does bcome kinda obbsesive compulsive bc he isnt letting her like have anyfun.

Yes, I think Edward would stay away from Bella if she chose to be with Jacob. He stayed away before. It was difficult for him, but it would be for different reasons if she chose to be away from him instead of the other way around. Jacob was acting selfish about Bella, perhaps because of how young he is, but also he wanted Bella to know of her feelings for him before she made a life altering decision. Jacob knew she loved him (I think Edward did too), but she did not. After she figured that out (with Jacob's help), he let her make her decision. Just like Edward was letting her make her own decision.

About Edward being overly protective of Bella. HE IS A VAMPIRE! Has everyone forgot that? When she gets hurt and bleeds, it is a serious thing. I think that is one thing Edward is looking forward to when she is a vampire - all the crazy, fun things that they can do together without the worry of her getting hurt.

Edward only let Bella go to La Push after Bella continued trying to escape there. I mean, she wasn't even allowed to talk about it without Edward throwing a fit! He didn't do it because he's not overprotective of her, he did it because it made her happy, but he was still wary, and OVER PROTECTIVE!!!

I agree with Emma. I don't think Edward would stay away from her if she decided to be with Jake. He would watch her like crazy, making sure nothing happend to her and blah blah blah! And some may think, "Oh, It's only because he loves her soooo much!! That's so cute! Awww-!" WRONG!! He's just completly obbsessed with her, as she is with him! Besides, why are we even talking about the "ifs" because we all know that there's no way she'll be with Jacob. Bc, she's obsessed with Edward...-sigh- there....

this isnt a story about an overprotective boyfriend with jealousy issues...this is about a vampire who is born to not trust warewolves..(.that complicates the story just a little)....whose girlfriend has a best friend that IS a warewolf. He is overprotective because Bellas life is ALWAYS in danger...and there is someone at every point in every book that is trying to kill bella, whether it be victoria, james, jasper, or himself. He is trying to keep her alive because he loves her...i understand that a majority of the readers are probably in high school and have never been in love and may try to use their own life experiences to judge the characters in the book...but dont forget the most important party....Edward is a vampire, jacob is a warewolf, they are both dangerous, and Bella is ALWAYS in danger. Edward is trying to keep her alive...and he doesnt trust anyone to keep her alive but himself, unless he has to...when something is THAT important to you, you want to take care of it yourself, just to make 100% sure. its only "OVER" protective when its a regular high school relationship....NOT when vampires who literally are HUNTING the one you love are around! i mean how many times has edward had to save bella...and what if he werent there...she would have died when the van hit her!!!

i just got married 5 months ago, and let me tell you, i would do ANYTHING to stay with my husband....there isnt even a question about it, id be a vampire in a second! its not just predator-prey attraction...she says why she loves edward to jacob...(Eclipse, pg 110 hardback).I love him. Not because he's beautiful or because he's rich!...I'd much rather he weren't either one...because he'd still be the most loving and unselfish and brilliant and decent person, i'd ever met. "...thats when she asks jacob what IS a good reason to love someone.

Also, yes, Edward would def stick around in the background if Bella chose jacob, because he believes his whole being is meant for her...to protect, to love, to whatever....and he also says that he knows that jacob has NOT imprinted with bella...so he will wait to see if he imprints with anyone else, and will be forced to leave bella...he refers to the imprinting as the weirdest thing he has ever witnessed in his life, and says that it is ALMOST as intense as what he feels for bella....implying that it is more intense, nad its not the same way he feels for any other human...there is also something to be said for the fact that she is the ONLY one whose thought he can not hear....there IS a connection between them that is WAY more then predator-prey.
