My wife and I missed the gathering for the previous book. Actually we joined the group late and we couldn't finish the book on time.
For the new selection "The Book", do we have to finish reading by late August? or is that the date of kicking off the new book?
Thank you
Khaled
Hi Khaled-- The group meets on August 29th to discuss the book. Details are here: http://www.goodreads.com/event/show/9...
Sometimes people don't finish the book and still come to the meeting and that is okay. If you don't finish in time, feel free to join us, but be warned that you will likely hear spoilers about parts of the book you haven't read yet. :)

So I finished the book The Book (sorry, had to do that!) last night and either I was just way too tired or I'm just dim but I'm confused! Spoilers ahead...
So at the very end something like 30 years is supposed to have gone by, right? But Winston is still alive? I guess he's just really, really old and has been wished Happy Birthday by Willard Scott by now? Okay-that's not really the confusing part I guess but I had to throw that in there.
The boy Moses at the end is supposed to be what, the reincarnation/second coming of Holden? I had to re-read the end because I was so mixed up but that's what I got. Am I missing something?
Thanks!

the Moses chapter was a little confusing. I think the author meant for it to leave lots of open questions and not be entirely clear cut. I am going to go back and reread it again.
