What was the first young adult book you read as a kid. I know I'm dating myself but my was "The Outsiders" Loved it then and love it now.

Michael Almich | 2 comments A Swiftly Tilting Planet, by Madeline L'Engle. I still like the poem in that book... Patrick's Rune

Shannon (shannonbooklover) | 3 comments The Outsiders...it made a huge impression on me that has always stayed with me. I am looking forward to reading it again with my almost 13 year old daughter.

Brie (faerie_brie) What a beautiful memory to revisit. My first 'real' book was Leprechauns Don't Play Basketball. I was five and on vacation with my family and between all the travel I occupied myself in this book, hardly putting it down. I still have it stored somewhere now that I think of it (:

Debbie (debbie_smith) | 3 comments I feel so old! I believe my first young adult book was 'Little Women' by Louis Maye Alcott. It was not my contemporary, obviously, but I loved it and identified with more than one of the characters. Odd since I had all brothers and the book is about a family of all sisters.

The first book I read on my own was probably Dr. Seuss Hop on Pop. (not counting the school versions of Dick and Jane)

L.Y. Levand (lylevand) I can't remember my first book. :( I read too many to remember the first.
