Janny (jannywurts) | 807 comments Ships of Merior in its original form was split to form its companion volume, Warhost of Vastmark, which is also the finale of Arc III.

Much of what is set in motion here will come to explosive conclusion with that volume.

At this moment, before starting the next book - what do you think will happen next?

How will Lysaer recoup from his defeat? What will Arithon return to at Merior, and where will he look, next? How will the destruction of the transport at Werpoint impact future developments?

Amelia (narknon) I suppose I can't guess because I know. It will be interesting to see what those who haven't read on think will happen. I don't think I've been in this position too much since I've started the series, but it's kind of fun.

Dawn (breakofdawn) Give me a day or two and I'll be able to comment on this, I'm almost done!

I'll be here for you, Dawn, and also, with the series group.

Dawn (breakofdawn) Ok, I finished last night, took me a little longer than I though due to a lack of available reading time..

I really have no idea what will happen next! I assume more fighting.. But that's kind of implied by the title of the series. But I really can't even begin to fathom how Lysaer will come back from his defeat.

I came out of ships feeling pretty sorry for Lysaer. I guess I had always thought he knew he was cursed but didn't care, which added to my dislike of him. When I found out he didn't know, it shed a little light on him. He really and truly believed that he was ridding the world of a great evil by hunting Arithon. That said, I have a feeling my perception of both characters (and the others in the series as well) will continue to shift in the upcoming books.

As for predictions, I don't really have any. I'm just excited to start the next book today and continue on the ride!

Janny (jannywurts) | 807 comments Hi Dawn - glad you made it! Thank you for posting your final thoughts. Fantasy Book Club Series group now has the second half, Warhost, under discussion - welcome in, if you wish to join us!

Alissa | 220 comments I've read a couple of chapters of Vastmark already, so I guess I missed my chance to try my thoughts on this, but it is true Merior and Vastmark are really one arc, as much as Mistwraith was an arc in itself, I finished Merior and started Vastmark like "no way you can't leave me hanging like this!".
I keep in mind Janny doesn't shy from characters manhandling when needed.
I just hope something physically painfully is in store for my favorite sluggard prophet.
