Nothing But Reading Challenges discussion

Tell us five things about yourself. I’ll go first.
1. I am the most inactive teenager ever! It took me 20 minutes to run a mile in P.E and every time my P.E teacher sees me you can tell she’s about to give me a lecture.
2. I’m obsessed with cookbooks. The thing is, I DON’T know how to cook. I do make a mean breakfast though. Eggs and bacon are my specialty.
3. I plan to move to Seattle, Washington after graduation or when I’m 21. I have never been to Seattle, and I don’t know anyone who lives in Seattle, but I’m obsessed with the city.
4. I would love to backpack around the world one day. My first country would be Belgium because I LOVE chocolate.
5. Even though I’m inactive, I would love to get into shape one day. I want to run 2 miles without breaking a sweat and do mind blowing yoga poses.

1. I also love cookbooks and have a hefty collection. I can cook, although if I make anything other then the usual fare my kids would beg to differ. They are too picky.
2. I would love to travel the world, but not with a backpack.
3. I would one day like to write a book, but probably won't till my kids are a little older.
4. My favorite holiday is Halloween. I love finding the kids costumes,carving pumpkins, eating taffy apples, and decorating the house in a kid friendly fashion.
5. Last but not least. I'd rather meet one of my favorite authors than one of my favorite celebrities.

1) I am a vegetarian! I love cooking (too) and trying out new recipes, different bean burritos, salads, and I love to make French Onion Soup!
2) I wanted to travel a lot when I was younger, but now I just would like to visit my relatives in Australia.
3) I love animals and people! I love voulnteering at foodbanks, and cat shelters. I love to help people and see them happy.
I'd like to get a phd when I'm older and become a therapist or councilor of some sort when I get older
4) People describe me as intellectual, empathetic, considering, and caring.
5) I like to get away from my house/home-town, wether it's halfway accross the world or 2 hours or so away.

1) I'm a young 63 year old (or so my son says).
2) I like cooking and since I retired I've started baking cakes something I never did before.
3) I've been married to my husband Colin for 37 years.
4) My favourite holiday is Christmas although it has lost at lot of it's magic because of all the commercialism.
5) My favourite holiday destination is Switzerland because I love the majestic scenery and the wonderful clean air.

1)Have a strange attachment to the Twilight Saga series and I am old enough to be some of their Moms!
2)I have one whole sleeve, one almost done sleeve, chest, lower back and legs covered in tattoos..
3)Have a very dry sense of humor which can offend some but don't mean to at all
4)Love with a passion and can hate with the same passion
5)Love spring and fall the most..

1) I also love cookbooks and trying new recipes. My latest cook book is "The Pioneer Woman". It's great.
2) Love to travel, would like to see Scotland someday.
3) I love Wyoming, we moved here 5 years ago and I hope to never leave.
4) Volunteer at my kids school in the library. It's a lot of fun and I get to be around books.
5) I have 3 children from the ages of 7 to 23. It makes life interesting.

OMG!!! I have about 30 cookbooks from all over the country. I specialize in spaghetti and grilled cheese. I keep "planning" on taking cooking classes and never seem to get around to it!!

My aunt makes a mean blueberry pie... she took a pastry class.

Tonight's dinner: Stuffed Peppers, Saute Squash, and Lemon Bars for dessert! Yummy.

1. I've read the Twilight series about 30 times. No, that's not an exaggeration. It never gets old. They're the ONLY books I've ever been able to read more than once.
2. I hate Louisiana. I can't wait to move.
3. I'm very opinionated and extremely sarcastic. That being said...I don't force my opinions on others.
4. My opinions avoid the "Black and White" of the world. I prefer to roam around in the "grey areas."

Lol I LOVE grilled cheese, it's one of the few things I can actually make. And I love Italian food but I don't know how to make it, my aunt makes a mean ziti though.

Haha I don't like grilled cheese at all!

Lol my little brother always bugs me to make it for him, I tried it with him once but couldn't take more than 2 bites... Not my thing I guess.

My normal lunch is a peanut butter and jelly sandwhich. I never liked them when I was younger but now I am obsessed... :))

2. I have a tattoo of an angel on my left shoulder blade. My gaurdian angel.
3. I'm 43 yrs. old, with 3 children.
4. I love animals and would love to be a veternarian.
5. I had custody of my oldest grandson for over 2 yrs.

Has anyone ever had peanut butter and apple butter? I had that for dinner. we have the Cracker Barrel apple butter. DELISH!

No but my mom makes apple pancakes sometimes. Banana and chocolate chip ones too. She makes a mean pancake.

Haha... I had peanut butter and bananas, pb & nutells, pb & fluff. Apple butter, hm :) I'll try that one. I like the orange marmalade too.

Do you mean you divorced him then married him again or did you just have two ceremonies?

1. I'm a writer, not an author - I don't desire to get published. I have been writing for 23 years. I write interracial stories. Black woman/white man. I will be writing a different interracial pair story in the near future.

2. I love Sam Starrett from Suzanne Brockmann's TroubleShooter Series. I am a huge fan of his. I know people probably think it's weird that I am a fan of a fictional character, but I am. I also love Dave Malkoff (we are both nerds) from that series, but you might hear me say more stuff about Sam. I'm always declaring my love for him.

4. I'm friendly and at the same time, I am very outspoken. I'm a firm believer in letting people stand on their opinions and I will stand on mine. A person may not understand something that I have said, I ask that if someone doesn't understand something that I have said, then please ask me to explain myself. Don't assume anything.

5. I love reading a good catcher book (I love reading about those good bad boy heroes and dangerous bad boys). I'll read a historical book, but I am a strong contemporary romance book reader. I do read young adult books too.

Nope, I'm not a fan of Cracker Barrel or peanut butter.

I am writing a writing challenge story on another group that I am on called Trespassing. It's about a dangerous bad boy seeking revergne for his father's death. He kidnaps the heroine, because she works for the man that had killed his father.

I am not a "Wow writer". Yes, writing is my talent and I do have a lot to learn about writing. I write for fun. I don't desire to be published.

If you want to take a peek at my story, let me know. I'll pm you the link. I will have to warn you though. My story does have errors in it.

Looks Iike I missed a bunch of action on Saturday. Hi Lisa. Your story about marrying the same man twice sounds like it must be interesting. You don't usually hear of that happening. Do you guys celebrate your anniversary on the eve of your first marriage or second or do you celebrate twice?
I could never imagine getting a tattoo. I got a ton of allergy shots when I was a kid and still cringe whenever a needle comes near me. Luckily, most of my allergies are gone now so at least the shots did what they were supposed too.

Arch, I can't believe I didn't see this before. Well I guess I know the answer to my TPBM question. :) I would love to write something and get published, but I don't know if I am any good at it. The thing that intimidates me the most is keeping characters within character and making the conversations sound natural and not contrived. I guess I need to get over my fear and just take the plunge and see what happens. I admire the fact you've written stories and put them out there for all to see even if you never wish to get published. I will definitely need to check out your stories.

I am very shy when it comes down to my writing. That doesn't have anything to do with me not wanting to get published. I enjoy writing for fun. I write for myself. I took a chance is letting people read my stories. First it started with only buddies of mine seeing my stories, then I've joined a writing challenge on an interracial group that I am on that lead me to participate in another writing challenge on another group that I am on.

I think that writers should do a writing challenge, it's great.

Have you ever heard of Nanowri? It's when writers writes an "only my eyes" see it story and post it to Nanowri. It's to see if you can write a 50,000 or more story in thirty days. I've participated for the first time last year. I didn't finish my story though and they don't require you to finish your story. They just want to see if you can write a 50,000 story in thirty days.

The website owners have their site set up to where you enter the amount of words you have typed and at the end of NaNoWri, you have to post your story and they will let you know how many words you have typed. They don't keep your story.

It's fun.

I don't know how many words they will require this year.

Your story has to start on November 1st and ends on November 30th.

We only celebrate this anniversary. I don't even remember the other anniversary. Sometime in October I think. LOL

Since we have so many people who like cooking I think I need to post a recipe. I actually have a bunch that I put together for a church cookbook. The lady putting it together was afraid she wouldn't have enough so I went on an all out search for my favorite recipes. Maybe I should post a recipe of the week. I know some people like to keep their recipes secret, but the way I see it if I loose the recipe I'll have plenty of people to ask for another copy. :) What do you guys like best? Desserts, quick fix meal - I came up with a 3 ingredient baked mostaccioli, pancakes (got an awesome recipe), crepes, lasagna, cheesecake, homemade lemonade, etc.

Ginger, my first thought is that I'm jealous :) lol. But my second thought is to ask if you researched any other eReaders? There are a lot of good ones out there and it would suck if you didn't buy the right one.

Welcome to the group Jaz! Really glad to have you. I know I could just google it but I prefer to just ask, what's bibliophile? The classics is my least favorite genre but one day I plan to just sit down and read them.

You said you are a bibliopile? That's cool :) How large is your book collection?

Haha #1 and #5 made me smile. I guess you got your love of reading from your parents so maybe your kids will love the bookstore as much as you do one day.

1) I've never say enough for books so I'm planing to have a small library room when I can buy my house :)
2) I always write novels,stories like my big sister because I love creating new worlds in my head :)
3) everyday I'm praying the God with all my heart for my big sister because she can write like a great author and she is trying to publish her book.
4) I'm a very curious person so I always wanna know everything:)
5) I'm a Turk and Muslim. I live in Turkey but I always wanna see around the world so next year I'm going to USA. I didn't pick the city yet but it's makes me feel excited :)

Samantha, what kind of cake does your sister like? Chocolate, vanilla etc... and does she like regular cake or cheesecake?

I would love a library in my house too. I really hope that your sister is able to get her book publised. I'm crossing my fingers for her.
