Sashana So if you have a facebook then you’ve probably been tagged in the 25 Random things notes made by friends. 25 seems to be too long of a list so lets just stick with 10. I’ll go first.

1. I spend 95% of my life daydreaming. You wouldn’t even believe some of the things that go through my mind.
2. I cannot fall asleep if my closet or room door is open.
3. I fake sleep so that my parents won’t make me get up and do chores.
4. During the summer I don’t wake up until at LEAST 1 p.m.
5. I mostly watch the Food network or the home gardening channel. Watch out MTV!
6. I honestly think that cats are evil animals.
7. My biggest fear (at the moment) is that I won’t get into the college of my choice and will spend the next two years in community college and living at home.
8. I spend at least 6 hours a day on facebook and or goodreads. Talk about not having a life!
9. I’m a part of a rare species. We’re called “Hi, I’m a 17 year old girl and I’ve never had a boyfriend or a kiss.” Yup I’m as pure as snow, can you see my *virtual* virgin glow?
10. Speaking of kisses, in the 6th grade I tried to kiss my crush Andrew on the lips. He moved and I ended up head butting him in the neck. Ah! Young love.

So there you have it, 10 random (and embarrassing) things about me.

message 2: by Naevehsa (new)

Naevehsa I'd like to comment on some of your randomness...
#2 I can't fall asleep if there is a light on or the T.V is on.
#5 I also mostly watch Food Network or HGTV...one or the other is usually on.
#6 I totally agree even though I own ( or should I say keep) one. Pretty sure she is trying to kill me as I sleep or trip me so I fall to my un-timely death.

lol...Glad to know that we have some things in common, but I could never own a cat. They freak me out so much.

Lisarenee | 7659 comments When I first saw this one I didn't know if I could come up with 10 random things, but I guess I did.

1. I don't have a leader mentality. I'd much rather be the person who makes the other person look good.

2. In college I took a logic class and my teacher was from another country and had an accent. For some reason some of the students in my class decided to give him a hard time. I've never seen anything like it before or since. It was like someone was on a mission to upset the teacher. They were rude, disrespectful, and down right mean telling him he didn't speak the language well enough to teach. I went to another of his classes one day as a make up and it was totally different. Well, one day I had enough and stood up and totally scolded the class by telling them we weren't in high school any more and this was college. I told them to basically leave the attitude at the door where it belonged. I told them they weren't children anymore so they needed to grow up. I told them his English was very good and that I'd like to see how well they'd do attempting to teach in another country. Anyway, after that day and my scolding the class was very different and the teacher didn't have a problem with anyone again. Yes, I got an A in the class, but then I don't think I ever got a question wrong either.

3.Off line I'm pretty shy. Think about that.

4.When I was in Grade school I had a teacher tell me I was as dumb as her brother's parrot. That's okay I got my revenge. Now I know what your thinking and your wrong. How'd I get my revenge? I went to college, got a job that paid well, and had the satisfaction of knowing I probably made more money then her in the short time I worked before becoming a full time mom then she did in her career. Yes,I believe in constructive revenge. The kind that harms no one.

4.I have my own opinions, but love hearing everyone else's as well.

5.I love gardening, but here in Florida I have a hard time keeping plants alive. It's too darn hot.

6.I wish I could find a stay at home job that could utilize my love of books.

7.Sometimes I think faster than I can speak and will loose my train of thought in mid sentence. It doesn't happen often, but it does happen.

8.I love giving theme parties especially for my kids. My daughter's last birthday party was based on the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins. We had trivia questions from the book, a formal dinner(like they did before the games), a scavenger hunt (because at the start of the games you had to search your supplies), a game where you had to figure out which flowers were edible and which weren't, and of course some games that tested your skills. I was very pleased that the party inspired non readers to read the book.

9.I'm really just a kid at heart and, like Peter Pan, will never grow up.

10.I cry when I hear the song I Hope You Dance by Lee Ann Womack. My sister had it playing on her CD player/radio in her hospital room when she died of breast cancer. I felt she was speaking to me. The lyrics are truly beautiful.

"I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)"

11. A bonus. When my sister knew she was sick and dying her mantra became, "Don't sweat the small things because life's too short." And so I pass those words of wisdom on to all of you.

message 5: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Lisarenee, first of all, I'm so sorry for the loss of you sister. I have always loved the song "I Hope You Dance" and now it has more meaning.

Can't give you 10 things but I can say this:

1) Like you, I am great on line but at times, in person I can be very quiet.
2) I have low self-esteem but it doesn't show from what I've been told.
3) I miss my Elvis, as he was my familiar and there just isn't another cat alive who will ever be a good as him.

Sashana, why do you not like cats? Just curious mind you and if you ever met my Mathilda, she would be all over you as most cats are when they know you don't like them..

message 6: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Well, when I was little we lived around a lot of stray cats and I'd see them in dark and their eyes would glow in this freakish way *shudder*. Plus the way they stretch their bodies, they are just too damn flexible for animals. Plus cats are not loyal animals (in my opinion), they just come and go as they please. They're just like divas. I know it's a bunch of ittle things, that may not even make sense, but I just really really hate cats.

message 7: by Carrie (new)

Carrie Mccausland (carrieconnor) 1) I was terrified of the dark until I turned 21
2) Most people who meet me think I am very out-going, but most the time I would rather be alone (or with my dog)
3) I love singing at the top of my lungs when I am alone in my car
4) I can never pick a favorite anything (color, movie, book)
5) I tend to drive too fast
6) I am working on holding the record for most years in college w/ out having DR. for a title
7) I do my best work in the middle of the night
8) Mornings are not a good time of day for me
9) I am rarely on time for anything ( I am really trying to work on it)
10) I would rather live in the moment than spen too much time planning

message 8: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Hey Carrie, ditto on 2, 4,and 8.

What do you mean by 6 though?

message 9: by Carrie (new)

Carrie Mccausland (carrieconnor) I have been going to grad school as a kind of hobby for about 6 yrs now. I was taking classes in literature out of love and desire to keep my mind active, but I never really had a desire to complete my master in lit, or use it professionally. Now I am working on my masters in social work, adding on another 2-3 years of higher education before I enter the work force full time....so my years on college campuses are quickly adding up,

message 10: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Oh, I see what you're taking about. That's an expensive hobby for someone to have.

message 11: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Carrie wrote,"3) I love singing at the top of my lungs when I am alone in my car
7) I do my best work in the middle of the night"

Me too! Okay, now that I think about it, saying that about #7 may sound kind of insinuating since I'm a stay at home mom. LOL What I mean is that I'm most creative when the house is quiet, the kids are sleeping, and I'm a little tired. My head just fills with tons of ideas.

message 12: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Sashana, I have to disagree with you Sweetie! I've had cats since I was 10, my first being Missy and my latest Mathilda. Let me tell you something about loyality. All my cats have always come when I called, greeted me at the door and slept right next to me in my bed. I know that people don't like cats for your reasons and others but having lived with them for so long I just don't see it. When I had to put Elvis to sleep, he died in my arms as I sobbed and sobbed. He meant to much to me so I had him tattooed on my inner left forearm. Oh and the picture of me is ... him.

message 13: by Naevehsa (new)

Naevehsa @ Carrie- same here regarding # 3 and 8
@ Lisarenee- so sorry to hear about your sister. it is a beautiful song and it's very hard to not get emotional when listening to it
@ Heather- I have to agree with Sashana about the evilness of cats. Though I love my Mio,and she comes most of the time when I call,I'm pretty sure she is planning to kill me as soon as she can figure out how to free herself from her incarceration at Nitchman Correctional Facility. It creeps me out when she stares at me like she's saying "One of these days..."

message 14: by Sashana (new)

Sashana @ Heather, to each her own. I am not and will never be a cat person. They just creep me out
@ Ingrid, lol. Keep your eye on that cat.

message 15: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Ingrid/Sashana, you both just break my heart..

And yeah, to each her own...

message 16: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Lol... You never know, maybe one day I'll find a Elvis of my own.

message 17: by Lisarenee (new)

Lisarenee | 7659 comments Heather, I love cats so you're not alone. ;)

message 18: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments I love them too. I have 14

message 19: by Sashana (new)

Sashana *sigh*

message 20: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Why sigh? Only 4 cats, 1 dog, and a bird live inside

message 21: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Do the cats and dog get along?

message 22: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Don't dogs and cats just seem to claim their own spaces?

message 23: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I wouldn' really know, I've never had a cat before. My brother had a dog but it bit me once.

message 24: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Oh sorry... for some reason I was thinking that this was answer a question with a questioin. opps. didn't mean to be difficult

well two of our cats are always at it and they are terrified of the dog. our dog, chelsea a jrt, is always chasing, our fat orange cat ginger. Our other cat is Buttons, and is a brown/gray gorgeous tabby cat.

message 25: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Wow, sounds hectic.

message 26: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Well, that's my house :) Actually, we are in the process of selling it so we can move somewhere with more space. It's a gorgeous house, but my mother is getting remarried and it's going from a 3 person family to a 5 person family.

message 27: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I hope you can keep your sanity. Good luck with your new family.

message 28: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Sanity? That's not a trait of mine.

message 29: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Lol

message 30: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments I'm not kidding :(

message 31: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments OK, I have to be honest. I was bugged me all day at work regarding not liking cats and everyone said I was overreacting which, big surprise is no surprise. I was really upset that the poor kitties got slammed so much. I thought about just not posting anymore but for me, that would be like not breathing and that ain't happening, LOL. I have been enjoying this group and didn't realize just how much I liked talking about anything and everything. I talked to a couple of cat lovers and we all talked about our current and past kitties, which of course made me ache for Elvis even more but I felt better.

So, basically, I do understand Sashana and your feelings are yours. I feel better knowing that Lauren and Lisarenee love cats too. Sashana, I had a cat jump at me, almost stalk me years ago cause her owners were blind and I don't think she had figured out that I could see. I was sitting on the couch at our friend's house and the cat jumped on the couch next to me, staring and I called out to my Mom that I didn't want to move. Well, my Mom sat down next to me and never took her eyes off the cat. The cat freaked out and left the couch! That was cool..

message 32: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Heather, I can really tell that you have a passion for your furry felines. Maybe if I had a Persian cat my opinions would change. Or maybe a Garfield look a like. Btw, saying that you enjoy the group is the best compliment that you can give me :D thanks! @ Lauren, you don't have to be born with sanity, you can build it (or I'm guessing so anyway).

message 33: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments I can't manage to build some sanity either. That's the problem. I get upset (like sad,) and thEn I go crazy...

message 34: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Well, here are some sanity building tips courtesy of me :D
1. Call a friend. It works, trust me! This week I was feeling a really down and I felt like I was about to self combust/destruct and I called my friend @ 1 A.M. in the morning crying and she took my mind off things. I went from being sad and angry to feeling somewhat happy.
2. Eat some chocolate, because chocolate makes the world a better place.
3. Listen to music (first some angry music, then some happy music). I listen to the gLee sound track when I feel like I’m about to lose it.
4. Avoid! Avoid! Avoid! Try to get away from the things/people that are driving you crazy, at least for a couple of hours.
5. Watch T.V. The cast of Jersey Shore is so outrageous you won’t even be able to remember your own problems.
6. Go on good reads. We <3 you here!

message 35: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Haha I'm glad :) I've tried all this stuff. What helps the most is when I write about whatever is bothering me. It's just hard because I never want anyone to see what I write... :(

message 36: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I write too, but I can write one day and not write anything for months. Eveytime I think my life sucks I go to http://www.fmylife.com/ and thanks God that my life doesn't suck as much as those ppl.

message 37: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Awww :( ok I'll check that out

message 38: by Sashana (new)

Sashana You should, it's really funny :D

message 39: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Is it sad?

message 40: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Nope, not really. There are a lot of OMG moments though.

message 41: by Lauren (new)

Lauren | 931 comments Haha :)

message 42: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Hey Sashana, you are very welcome for the compliment as it came from the heart! I also loved your list. It is always good to talk to a friend, eat chocolate, bash someone over the he ... oops, that was my inside head voice. Heh-heh, sometimes, she speaks out loud..

Never saw Jersey Shore and it looks very sad, with sad little people but I see your point. Or reading a Stephanie Plum book cause her life is aways a mess..

message 43: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Lol, I have my head bashing moments too, but I try to control my violent urges because I'm too cute for jail :D And I really do think chocolate makes the world go round, forget love- it's so 80's. Oh man, the Jersey Shore is like Stephanie Plum (minus the cars blowing up). I'd be embarrased if I were from Jersey and saw that show, it's my t.v. guilty pleasure though.

message 44: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Oh Sashana, you needed to add to the 5 comments about yourself ... modest.

Can you believe that I have never seen the Jersey Shores? Nor the K sisters (can't spell their names nor do I care too), talk about the stupidest twit tw** that ever walked the face of the earth.. Love chocoate and bashing skulls. Well, come on now, it does feel good to do both. Hmm, trying to think of my guily pleasure ... that would be any Twilight movie, Ever After, Love Actually and of course any P&P movie.

message 45: by Katherine (new)

Katherine Heather what do you like about Love Actually? I just can not get into it. Love your other movie choices though.

message 46: by Heather (new)

Heather | 504 comments Hmm, I guess that most of the people got hea's that fit them, if that makes sense. I know several people that didn't like the porn scenes but I thought those were the best. Of course, I loved Colin Firth and his romantic interest, she was cute and she fit him. Man, watching scenes with Liam and his step-son were so sweet and tender. Some of the characters were OK and I had wished Emma had a nice story but she as aways was perfect. I know that not everyone has the same taste. What about the movie bugs you so?

When I would get upset at work and was depressed, I would go to the theater and see Ever After, I loved that movie so! It helped me get through the crap and hey, it touched my romantic side..

message 47: by Katherine (new)

Katherine I love Colin Firth also, he will always be my Darcy. I think because there was so much going on, so many couples. It was hard to get into one and then head to another. Maybe it's just a movie I need to watch more than once.

message 48: by Sashana (new)

Sashana Katherine wrote: "I love Colin Firth also, he will always be my Darcy. I think because there was so much going on, so many couples. It was hard to get into one and then head to another. Maybe it's just a movie I ..."

Does this mean that you don't like the 2005 version of P&P?

message 49: by Katherine (new)

Katherine No I do like it. I think Matthew McFadyne (sp) did a good job. I have a poster of it in my basement. But Colin was really great...especially the scene when he comes out of the pond all wet and runs into Lizzy. Priceless.

message 50: by Sashana (new)

Sashana I love the 2005 version so much. I watch it over and over again. I'm really obsessed with it. I hate the Colin Firth version, it's just too bland for my liking
