UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Note: I changed the name because there's another group using the Challenge Yourself Challenge title.

Ok, ladies! September will soon be upon us so it's time to prepare for a new challenge.

The Build Your Own Challenge challenge is one in which the challenge is going to be left up to you to create.

Each one of you will come up with your own challenge, including the number of books to read with a minimum of 4. As you join, I'll add you to our participant's thread along with the number of books you've committed to.

Some examples:

---Catch up or finish a series.

---Try some authors you’ve never read before.

---Try a new genre.

---Read X number of books from your To Be Read pile, or mountain, as the case may be.

The options are endless!

The challenge runs from September 1 through September 30.

But, here's the deal, once you commit, you can't change your mind, so think it through before you decide!

Now, if you like this idea and there’s enough interest, I can make this into a quarterly challenge instead. Just let me know.

Dina (missdina) | 718 comments Okay, UM, I'm in. I'll follow your lead and work on reducing my TBR.

BUILD MY OWN CHALLENGE CHALLENGE
Duration: September 1 - September 30

Goal: Read at least books from my To-Read shelf.

Here's my list:

1. Surrender by Pamela Clare
2. Untamed by Pamela Clare
3.
4.
5.
6.

P.S.: I know my list isn't complete yet, LOL. I'm just comitting myself to this challenge for now and I'll post my final list of books later - before September 1, of course. ;)

message 5: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I made it more challenging by saying that there are no "take backs" on this one. Once you post, that's it. Try to make changes and you'll find Eric Cartman knocking on your door with his billy club. LOL

message 6: by Dina (new)

Dina (missdina) | 718 comments LOL! That's why I didn't list any book yet. I'm going to wait until the last minute to commit myself to my final list. As much as I love Cartman, I'm not eager to have him visiting me. ;)

message 7: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments LOL!!!! You will respect my authoritah!!!!!!

message 8: by Dina (new)

Dina (missdina) | 718 comments Yes, m'am! *salutes*

message 9: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Glover | 576 comments I'm going to do the "Try a New Author"(how do you bold stuff here?)

I've already got one marked for the other September challenge and I have two pages of new ones to try!

But I'm NOT putting it here because I don't want this Cartman fella, whoever he might be, knocking at my door. Or do I? Is he hawt? LOL!

message 10: by Dina (last edited Aug 09, 2010 12:12PM) (new)

Dina (missdina) | 718 comments LOL, Mandy, you do not want Cartman banging on your door. He's a character from "South Park", a non-PC cartoon that no kid should be allowed to watch. ;)

Mandy wrote: "(how do you bold stuff here?)"

Click on "(some html is ok)" on top of the comment box. You'll find all the info you need to bold, italicize, underline, etc. your words/sentences.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments This is Eric Cartman from the TV show, South Park. He's a hoot.

Photobucket

And this is a video of him acting as a cop

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3QJ8NK...

And why you don't want to deal with his bully club. LOL

message 12: by Mandy (last edited Aug 09, 2010 12:26PM) (new)

Mandy Glover | 576 comments Now see . . .that's just frightening! LOL!!

Definately don't want HIM knocking at my door!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments And to use BOLD click on the link that says (some html is ok) above the comment box and look down about half way you'll see where it said bold text and there's a code that looks like this <.b>...<./b> (without the periods) you put the text or letters you want to have in bold in between that code like this...

<.b>hello (without the periods)

message 14: by Mandy (new)

Mandy Glover | 576 comments woohoo! I did it!! LOL!

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Oh, ok. Maybe when you get home. I hate it when work interferes with fun. LOL

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 630 comments I think I am going to do this challenge, but not sure whether to finish off a series or just try and reduce books from my TBR pile, or just finish the books I have bought recently and not read, grrr the possibilities are endless!

message 19: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Yes, they are :) The only requirement is 4 books. Anything over that is up to you.

message 20: by Robin (new)

Robin | 361 comments Good Luck everyone. As tempting as it is to challenge myself to finish my unfinished I'm going to pass and opt out this month.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I'm making a slight change to the "rules." You can post and make changes your challenge up until September 1. On September 1st, no more changes can be made.

Whew . . .I'm driving myself crazy trying to spell September AND work it into this one!! LOL!! I might just have to do them seperate . . .sorta.

message 24: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (last edited Aug 10, 2010 07:46AM) (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments This is one of the instances where I'm glad I have 200+ books on my bookshelves waiting to be read. It was fairly easy to come up with books that I could fit into Spell September AND have them count as clearing some books from my TBR and not have to buy more to fit the challenges.

200+!! Wow!! I wish I could have that many! I read them as quickly as I get them though. Maybe if I began branching out more and trying new authors (as I am now doing) I could build up my TBR pile.

message 27: by Linds (new)

Linds For my challenge, I'm going easy on myself and only having four books this month. I'm going to have four romance novels by authors I've never read. My choices are:
1.) As You Like it by Connie Brockway
2.) The Romantic by Madeline Hunter
3.) A Rose in Winter by Kathleen Woodiwess
4.) A Lady's Guide to Improper Behavior by Suzanne Enoch

As You Desire The Romantic (Seducers #5) Wolf and the Dove A Lady's Guide to Improper Behavior

Suzanne (Under the Covers Book blog) | 630 comments How do you manage to get the pictures of the books so big?

message 29: by Alycia (last edited Aug 31, 2010 12:54PM) (new)

Dina (missdina) | 718 comments Ah, I can understand! Your spirit is still on vacation, right? How was it? Did you have a great time?

message 35: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments It was nice not having to do anything! We went through Zion National Park, the St. George Utah Mall, ate at some places we don't have here at home, lounged around.... so why I need a vacation to recuperate from my vacation I couldn't tell ya.

message 36: by Dina (new)

Dina (missdina) | 718 comments LOL, I always feel the same way when I come back from a vacation.

message 37: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

Me too :) I may even add some

message 39: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments WOOHOO!!! I'm just trying to make the books ones I really want to read so I don't get bored. The only questionable one is the #9 - Reluctant Mistress, Blackmailed Wife - Lynne Graham - but it works for my Spell September challenge, too.

message 40: by Alycia (new)

It does have decent rating and it is short.

message 41: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments That's what I was thinking, too, Alycia. LOL It might be painful, but it's short!

message 42: by Alycia (new)

Alycia | 1478 comments Hopefully it isn't. I'm following your Mary Wine pick, I think I will add the first book to my list.

message 43: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I hope you enjoy them!

message 44: by Alycia (new)

Alycia | 1478 comments Me too. I have book 2, just need to download book 1 and then I'll add book 3 if they are good.

message 45: by UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish, Your Humble Servant (new)

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments I liked them, but her other one that was a full length was kind of slow. I'm hoping Bedding will be good.

UniquelyMoi ~ BlithelyBookish | 8001 comments Alycia, it was.... neither of those... one came out... recently... oh, it was To Conquer a Highlander by Mary Wine . You can read my review for it, there are no spoilers, or if there are, they are labeled.
