I found this book to be so dire. I was ready to die at the end of it. It was very depressing and I cannot for the life of me figure out why so many people like it.

Hmmm, I did really like it. I don't find it to be so depressing, Holden actually made me laugh a bunch of times. There was just something that I liked about it.

I hated it when I read it in high school and have no desire to re-read it. I thought Holden was whiny and I was not impressed (or shocked) by the language ... just seemed like a way to get attention.
