Becca | 24 comments I see a lot of comments about what not to read, but what good clean reads are you reading now? I'm sure I'm not the only one interested in adding some good clean reads to my tbr pile, so please share what you're reading now, and whether you'd recommend it as a clean read or not.

Rachel (whitepicketfence) | 100 comments I am reading:

1. "No Doubt About It" by Sheri Dew -- good, but not
captivating, like when she speaks.

2. "Inner Victory" by David A. Christiansen -- great,
but really meant to be an interactive immersion
(like Stephen Covey's Seven Habits)and I'm only
reading it and thinking about it, instead of
"doing" it, so I'm missing out on it's full
benefits.

3. "The Inheritance" by Louisa May Alcott -- which is
fun (or should I say funny). It is the first book
she ever wrote (at the age of 17)and was never
meant to be published. It is melodramatic and
overly descriptive, (like a talented 17 year old
who is trying much too hard:)but with that in mind
as an interesting curiosity, I'm enjoying the
swooning and the fair faced virtuous women and the
gallant and overly perfect men who heroically come
to their emotional rescue:)It's meant to be
poignantly dramatic, but it just makes me smile.

Joyce | 20 comments The Black Moth, by Georgette Heyer. Definitely a clean read.

message 4: by Lindsay (new)

Lindsay Belmont (lindsaybelmont) | 4 comments I just finished Scrambled Eggs at Midnight by Brad Barkley and Heather Hepler and I LOVED it. It's YA but I found it very touching and sweet and romantic, as well as laugh out loud funny. It is a clean read. There are some teenage "making out" situations but nothing descriptive and the characters do not have sex. I'm currently reading the authors' next book, Dream Factory (not a sequel to Scrambled Eggs) and it is good but a bit more off-color as the characters are older teenagers (18-19). Not for the suer duper sensitive reader. But I don't like it as much as Scrambled Eggs anyway, so read the first one and then decide for yourself.

message 22: by Gabriella (new)

Gabriella (stardust_126) | 131 comments I was reading The Bad Beginning by Lemony Snicket, but got bored with it pretty quickly. Sometimes, children's children's books just don't do it for me. Now I'm reading The Giver by Lois Lowry. Hopefully, I will be drawn into it more than I was with my last book.

Dorcas (onemorepageplease) | 46 comments I just finished reading "mother and the tiger " a memoir of life in Cambodia during the reign of the Khmer Rouge. It was excellent and not graphic at all. (yes violence is there but is largely skimmed so as not to horrify.) Wonderful wonderful book! When I'm not on my kindle ill add it to the group bookshelf.

Jim Vuksic Dorcas wrote: "I just finished reading "mother and the tiger " a memoir of life in Cambodia during the reign of the Khmer Rouge. It was excellent and not graphic at all. (yes violence is there but is largely skim..."

I believe it would be impossible to depict that particular time in Cambodia's history without including the violence. To do so would be disingenuous.
