A warm and dusky buzzing came from the alluring pull of the fields, and Ajax set out towards them with a determined expression, his arms laden with soon-to-be-filled baskets. Truth be told, this was one of his favourite chores. Nothing but him, warm temperature, and the strawberries.
He plucked a ripe one off a bush and put it in a basket. The strawberry was enormous, probably addled with charms from the Dionysus and Demeter kids.

"Need some help?" Hayley asked, emerging from side of him, voice slightly muffled from the strawberry she was chewing. True, she wasn't supposed to be here now, and had blown off canoing, which would probably result in another punishment. But, it was worth it.
"Oh!" Ajax jumped in surprise as Hayley seemd to emerge from the strawberry plants. "Do you live here or something?" Ajax asked, trying to sound annoyed. He couldn't-- the amusement he felt seeped out of his voice and made him grin. "Sure. Here's a basket. You know, so you don't use your mouth."
"Aww, that's no fun." Hayley took the basket and started to pluck the juiciest berries, dropping them carefully into the basket and sneaking a few into her mouth. "Yes, I live here. You live here too, remember, Camp Half-Blood?"
"I meant in the strawberry fields, Strawberry Killer," Ajax said with a roll of his eyes. He shook a bush vigourously, straberries falling into a basket with satisfying thuds.
Hayley grinned, restraining herself from eating anymore. "No, I was just hungry, again." In truth, she had starting eating more ever since Caspar left for his quest. The sweet taste of strawberries seemed to numb the anxiety gnawing at her gut.
"I don't mind, you know. Eat as many as you want. It's not like we're going to run out or anything." Ajax spread his arms and gestured at the seemingly endless expanse of strawberries.
"No, I might get sick." Hayley couldn't control her appetite well and was prone to eating until her stomach ached.
"Is this, like, your job?" Hayley asked, hungrily eying a particularly plump strawberry. "'Cuz if it is, I envy you. Actually, I'm supposed at be at the lake right now with the Poseidons."
"Yeah. Grow up a little and become the senior counsellor. Then you'll be living your dream job." Ajax shook his head with a small smile. Pfft. Poseidons.
A small part of him wondered what Charlotte was doing.
"Yeah, you don't wanna get left behind with those at the lake," Ajax said with a trace of a scoff in his voice.

Hayley shrugged, starting to eat again. "I dunno, they're cool, just a little too...playful. I was at the lake earlier, it's amazing to see how they can withstand play with three-foot tall waves." A small smiled played on her lips, recalling the sight of the laughing siblings in the water.
"Ouch," Ajax said, plucking a handful of berries and ladling them into his steadily growing pile of fruit. "Funny, how some people've got incredible powers and yet others... don't," he said with a thoughtful glance towards the U of major cabins.
Hayley nodded, filling her basket up and reaching for another. "I have some light manipulating powers, but I'm not good at it." Yet. Not good at it yet.
"I don't really know what I've got," Ajax admitted. He thought of that one moment with Charlotte, but shook his head. Surely there was another explanation.
"I would give you a stupid suggestion, then you would shoot it down and yell at me to leave, but I like it here, so I'll stay quiet." Hayley set her basket down for a moment and focused a small ray of light shining through the leaves of a strawberry plant. She was utterly silent, concentrating hard on trying to bend or move the light. Giving a small wave-like gesture with her hands, the light gradually moved to side, stopping a few plants down. Ugh, fail.
"I don't really get mad very easily," Ajax said with a shrug. "And you're welcome to stay here anyway. So shoot. Pretty trick, by the way."
Hayley shrugged, filling up a second basket. "Thanks. I'm not sure...I can be snarky, I'll admit. I like that word...snarky." She trailed with a childish giggle.
"Well...?" Ajax said, getting slightly impatient. The girl was incredibly easy to put off subject.
"No," Hayley shook her head. "Never mind. It's not important. I think I should be getting to the lake, maybe the naiads'll go easy on me if I said I was sick."
"Hayley, if you don't tell me I'll get very angry," Ajax said, stressing angry with a singsong voice. "Pretty please."
"Fa-ine." Hayley took a moment to remember her comment, lips pursed in thought. "Hmm, let's see. Oh, right, I always thought that the Nemesis kids would be good at math or summat 'cos of the scales and and balance and whatnot. But I came up with that thought a few years ago, not a very smart one."
"I am good at math," Ajax said, a puzzled smile creeping us his face. "That's not exactly what I meant, though."
"Oh, you mean physical powers." Hayley nodded. "Like Demeter with plants, Poseidon with water, Apollo with light, blah blah blah. Mmhmmp, I see."
"Yeah." Ajax nodded, fingering a strawberry plant absentmindedly. Maybe if... no. Definitely not.
"I hope my two measly baskets of harvest and my company have done you good, I must be off. Wish me luck and hope I don't drown," Hayley joked dully, turning in the direction of the lake.
"Have fun, say hi to Charlotte for me," Ajax said, the words slipping out of his mouth too easily. "Thanks, Hayley."
Hayley smiled weakly and nodded. "No problem, I love strawberries, and you're cool. I'll tell her," she paused, then decided there was no harm in giving him some news on Charlotte. "She was playing with her brother earlier, one of the newbies, I could've sworn she was laughing." She shrugged. "Don't tell anyone I was here!" Hayley called, breaking into a sprint for the lake.
Hayley left Ajax with a grin on his face, whistling softly to himself as he set about picking and eating the occasional strawberry.
Laughing. That's good.
Laughing. That's good.

Karie turned around, a strawberry in her mouth. "hi!" she gave him a warm smile.
((Silverfur, avoic interactions-- and especially romantics-- between your characters.))
Ajax looked up with a slight scowl as his eyes adjusted to the sunlight. His neck ached from bending down to pick the bottommost strawberries. "Um, why are there so many people here?"

((Less typos, too, please... It means that avoid interaction of a romantic sort between your characters. You had a phase where Dustin and Katie were making out... a lot... and that's not allowed. It's like the unspoken rule of roleplaying.))
Rolling his eyes, Ajax picked the last berry off the bush and stalked off without replying. It was funny to see the tall boy, covered in colourful tattoos, with armloads of berries.

Katie looked at him, the looked back at Dylan. She smiled. "did you grow these?" she asked
He shook his head, "not really."

"Would you mind quieting down?" she asked in a monotone, trying to let the anger stay out of her voice.

She walked up to Dylan, shaking her head. "have you noticed that everyone is on edge lately?" she shook her head again.

Dtlan nodded, "this ajhex or whatever kid totally just bit my head off!"
Elisa absent mindedly wandered in. She caugh Ajax's name. "Sorry are you talking about Ajax? The kid that Caspar told everyone was..." She trailed off. "For his being the god of justice or whatever he's sorta..." She trailed off. She knew she shouldn't be gossiping she had never met him.

Katie picked the strawberries that were nearest to her.
