Book three due out 2011

Anne OK (anne-ok) | 51 comments PC's historicals are some of the best historical out there!

Kathrynn They are! I love the colonial theme with Highlander twist. Wish there were more "out there" with this theme. Love it.

Auntee | 61 comments Me too. I love that time period.

Pamela (pamela_clare) | 370 comments Connor is my scene stealer. I've had to keep him in a choke chain since I started the first book. All the best lines, all the showing off — he stole all of it from everyone. I had to deliberately go through and reassign some of his antics/heroism to Morgan.

I told him he could wait for his own darn book.

Yes, I talk to my characters. :-)

BJ Rose (bjrose) | 7 comments I am so looking forward to Connor's book. Of course, just before it comes out, I'll have to reread Iain's & Morgan's stories!

I'm guessing that about a month before Connor's book is released we'll do a group re-read of the first 2 books. I'm hoping so anyway.

I'm so excited for this book. I love the MacKinnons. And, of course, we'll have to look in on Iain and Morgan, right?

message 10: by Pamela (new) - added it

Pamela (pamela_clare) | 370 comments The working title for the book at this moment is DEFIANT. The titles for this series have totally sucked, I have to say, and that is my fault. I'm open to suggestions. "Hot Badass Highlander in the Americas" is probably too long.

As for the idea for the story, oh, yes. Two ideas. One that I'm favoring. Hint: Mary Jameson.

Beanbag, I'm so happy to hear you're excited about it. Yes, we'll get a full update and some real time with Iain and Morgan and Joseph. And Killie and Dougie and McHugh and Brendan... :-)

I like that title, actually. I think they were all defiant in some way, but I can see Connor being even more-so, after watching the BS his brothers were put through.

message 13: by Pamela (new) - added it

Pamela (pamela_clare) | 370 comments Beanbag, thank you so much! That is quite an honor. I'm just happy you're looking forward to the stories. I promise to do the best to write books you enjoy.

Yes, Dhes, they are all defiant. But Connor has more of an edge. He's a step away from saying "F you." The thing Wentworth is able to hold over his head, though, is his brothers. "If you don't behave, I'll call Iain back into service."

And Connor doesna want that, aye?

So, Pamela, I did a search and is this the Mary Jameson of Celtic descent, married to Samuel?

I'm trying to research my ancestor, Parks (or Parkes) DARE. He was born about 1790 in New York, according to census records, but I can't find anything further back. You've given me an idea of where to search, though!!!! Thanks! :)

Pamela (pamela_clare) | 370 comments Nope. Sorry. I spelled it wrong.

Mary Jamison.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mary_Jem...

The heroine would be loosely based on Mary, in her honor. I found her story (the entire thing is in a book of her own words written down by a journalist) to be very moving.

OK, thanks :) I'm going to go read about her now.

How often have I said that I want to know the details behind the stories? I sound like a broken record!! LOL

message 18: by Pamela (new) - added it

Pamela (pamela_clare) | 370 comments You say that a lot, Dhes, but I enjoy sharing.

I care a lot about the research that goes into all my books. I'm not sure whether I should blame the archaeology degree or the journalism career, but I'm very focused on research all the time.

For me, the chance to do research is in itself a reason to write books.. :-)

That is a very, very cool story!!! I have an ancestor known as Indian Eve. She was also taken captive, but after some years was able to return to her family. In the past couple of years, however, another branch of the family has "laid claim" to her being their direct ancestor, so who knows?

I'm very jealous! As a kid, then even in college, I had wanted to go into archeology, or at least study it. I'm always fascinated in the small details of civilizations, and the things we can learn from ancient trash heaps :) My daughter is taking a history class, World History to the 1500's, in college, and I LOVE it when she comes home and tells me the things her professor has taught.

~ Becs ~ (becsisanangel) I wish I could join you - I don't think it's being released as an ebook in the UK and I just don't buy paperbacks anymore :-(

Shame because these are, I think, the best historicals I've ever read and I really wanted to read Defiant and I would have liked to have read it on release day with you all but it's not to be.

I'm sorry to hear that, Becs! I don't understand why it wouldn't be released in the UK, though. Maybe Pamela will have the answer to that.

message 31: by Pamela (new) - added it

Pamela (pamela_clare) | 370 comments Becs, I don't know why it wouldn't be released as an ebook there. I'm fairly certain it will be, but they might not show the ebook link until the book is for sale in print as well. Check on July 3 and see if it's an ebook then. They used to not offer pre-order options for ebooks on Amazon.com, and I think it's because the publishers were trying to herd people into buying print. Can't be sure about that.

Regardless, I'm really sorry! I have no control over it at all, because if I did, readers in the UK and NZ and Australia wouldn't have to wait.

I'll check Amazon.uk. Does the Book Depository sell ebooks?

message 32: by ~ Becs ~ (new)

~ Becs ~ (becsisanangel) Thanks Dhessy and Pamela.

It's only listed as a paperback on Amazon UK and Book Depository. Usually the big releases have the option to pre-order - certainly the new Jeaniene Frost did last Tuesday.

I had the same problem with Naked Edge - that didn't get released as an ebook for ages over here but Breaking Point and Skin Deep both arrived in my Kindle at midnight on release day!

I know you have no control over it Pamela so don't worry - I will check Amazon on Tuesday morning to see if they do actually release it without pre-listing it but, at the moment, it's just not there.

It's a real shame - I love the buzz on Goodreads when we're all reading a long anticipated book on release day together.

message 33: by Pamela (new) - added it

Pamela (pamela_clare) | 370 comments I love that, too, Becs, both as a reader and an author. It's so fun to share the experience with other enthusiastic reader.

I really wish all the publishers of the world would just make some kind of arrangements with ebook distributors so that this was easy for people.

I have readers all over the world who can't get certain books in ebook format because of selective distribution arrangements publishers make. I try hard to help them find a copy.

I will email the publisher first thing Monday morning and see if I can get an answer for you.

We are constantly having this problem over here Pamela and it gets so frustrating!

I have tried to look into problems in the past and it is something to do with the different Licensing laws. I don't understand it fully as it is very complicated but from what I understand some publishers get around it by having affiliates publishing and distributing the books here in the UK....I just wish they would get it sorted once and for all so this doesn't keep happening :(

I agree. I don't blame the authors, it is all to do with the publishers! Anyway we can only live in hope and pray they get something sorted. Not a lot else we can do in the meantime!

~ Becs ~ (becsisanangel) I keep clicking on that 'I'd like to read this book in kindle' button. I notice that they've finally taken off the pre-order status today but that they're not actually selling it themselves anymore - it's being offered new from Book Depository and used from sellers in the US.

Wonder why Amazon UK has decided not to sell it themselves? I just can't work it out.

I actually contacted Amazon customer service yesterday and the girl tried to be helpful, but even after having me on hold for 15 minutes, at least, she couldn't explain what the problem was.

I ask about the possibility of someone in the US gifting it to someone in the UK, and was put on hold another 10 minutes. She came back and said that yes, gifting would work, but then added that 'if recipient has trouble accessing the title, we can work something else out,' but she couldn't guarantee that said recipient would actually get the book.

I know people in other countries who have their amazon account registered using a friend's or family's US address so that they can avoid this headache. It might be frowned on, but it's likely not illegal. Does anyone have more information on this?
