Dragonrider These things are not evil in themselves, but when you take them too far it is.

austen (oncebef0re) I don't read 'em...whatever. Not my kind of literature.

message 3: by austen (new)

austen (oncebef0re) When did I say that? I like some scifi, but not the depressing kind.

message 4: by austen (new)

austen (oncebef0re) Since when has Twilight been sci-fi??? LOL

Chiara ♪*CheesecakeLover*♪ | 95 comments Girl4beluga wrote: " Do you watch them? Do you find them in anyway offensive?"

Watch them??? *confused*

No. Not at all.

message 6: by Dibily Do (new)

Dibily Do Twilight...I just don't care for. And no, not because it has vampires, vamps. are ok with me but its just the book it self.

Harry Potter, I don't like nor I agree with it.

Buffy, never watched it so I have no opinion

Chiara ♪*CheesecakeLover*♪ | 95 comments Quote from J.K Rowling.

"I really feel that we're not giving children enough credit for distinguishing what's right and what's wrong. I, for one, devoured fairy tales as a little girl. I certainly didn't believe that kissing frogs would lead me to a prince, or that eating a mysterious apple would poison me, or that with the magical "Bibbity-Bobbity-Boo" I would get a beautiful dress and a pumpkin carriage. I also don't believe that looking in a mirror and saying "Candyman, Candyman, Candyman" will make some awful serial killer come after me. I believe that many children recognize Harry Potter for what it is, fantasy literature. I'm sure there will always be some that take it too far, but that's the case with everything. I believe it's much better to engage in dialog with children to explain the difference between fantasy and reality. Then they are better equipped to deal with people who might have taken it too far."

I completely agree. Harry Potter has good morals in it. Twilight not so much, but I wouldn't call it outright just plain bad. And at least Buffy is trying to kill the evil vampires. Good conquers over evil.

message 9: by Courtney (new)

Courtney I know alot of christian kids who love twilight because it was written by a mormon author, however most of them don't watch buffy or read HP

message 10: by [deleted user] (last edited Sep 25, 2010 07:12PM) (new)

hopefully"

what do you mean?

message 17: by Sharissa (new)

Sharissa Spangler | 65 comments In which series? In Harry Potter good conquers over evil. In Twilight there's not really a definite line between good and evil (at least that's how I view it), but it basically conquers over evil.

message 18: by Sharissa (new)

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 297 comments Girl4beluga wrote: "you don't like scifi? *gasps* ;)"

None of these series are sci-fi. They are still awesome, though, and so is sci-fi.

EDIT: By "they", I don't mean Twilight. Twilight is average. Harry and Buffy are awesome, though.

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 297 comments Well, I just watched my first episode of Buffy a few hours ago. (Thank you, Netflix.) It was awesome! How have I not been watching this?

Harry Potter is the most amazing book series ever written. It is pure brilliance.

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 297 comments Ha ha, I can relate, sadly. :P

message 24: by Cody (new)

Cody (rolinor) well there is nothing wrong with any of them other then Twilight being probably the worst book ever written :)

message 25: by Cody (new)

Cody (rolinor) I have never even heard of that book.

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 297 comments Girl4beluga wrote: "I disagree the worst book ever written is Great Expectations."

No dissing Dickens! Especially not in favor of Stephanie Meyer! And Meyer's books don't deserve the title of "Worst Books Ever".

message 27: by Cody (new)

Cody (rolinor) Yay more people who hate twilight lol

What worse title should we give worst waste of trees ever or best fire-starter lol

message 28: by Natalie (new)

Natalie Actually, Stephanie Meyers books arent as great as you think they are. When you look back from a while from now, you will know that they werent as good as you thought they were. I know now that they arent, and im disappointed about the movie, TOTALLY ruined it.

And ppl should know that these conecpts (vampires, warewolves, etc...) arent real. But when people take it too far and actualy believe it, its stupid and dumb of the person to believe these myths! They arent real, so people shouldnt be offended by movies coming out with them in it. But when people take it too far and believe in them, and wont let people see those type of things because they are real, then thats just pure incanity and craziness. They arent real in ANY circumstances, though people can have fun reading about them and watching movies and tv shows about them and stuff like that, they ARENT REAL AT ALL.

Rachel (aka. Kaiserin Sisi) (looney-lovegood) | 297 comments I don't know anyone who actually believes in werewolves and vampires, and I know some pretty dedicated Twilight fans. As a fan of other series, though, I can completely understand being offended when a movie messes with the book.

*Mrs. Brightside* OMG! I'm in love with Buffy!! When I was young (like, maybe eight) me and my brother would always watch it in the morning before going to school.
