I absolutely love Last of the Mohicans. The music from that movie is amazing.

YAY, I'm so glad everyone is so excited!

The 2002 version with Colin Firth and Reese Witherspoon.

Robin wrote: "If we have seen some of the movies already, can we comment on them when the threads come up,how are you planning to have questions and have topics on each movie?"
Yeah, you can definitely go ahead and comment if you've seen the films already, especially if they're still fresh in your mind. These movie discussions can be about seeing new things or re-viewing some you may have forgotten.

Glad you all are so ready for the films we'll be discussing later!

Claire Danes, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Robert De Niro star in Stardust and it is more of a romantic fantasy than a period drama. I hope you'll give it a chance, Robin--it is amazing!

Young Frankenstein is a classic (my husband and I both love it) and it's now a Broadway production. Gary Oldman is flat-out creepy as Dracula.

The discussions will take place on a two-week basis this season, to allow ample time for obtaining and viewing the films, and the schedule goes through the end of the year. This was a random drawing, with a small amount of classic films mixed in with the period films. Thanks to a great idea from Sarah, there is also a mini Halloween Film Festival--I chose from a handful of scary and scary-funny films for that weekend. I hope everyone is looking forward to this list--I know I am! ENJOY!
--October 1: Last of the Mohicans
--October 15: The Importance of Being Earnest
--October 29:HALLOWEEN FILM FEST--Dracula and Young Frankenstein
--November 12: Casablanca
--November 26: Stardust
--December 10:The Philadelphia Story
--December 24: Wives and Daughters
EDIT: The book discussion of Wives and Daughters will be six weeks in length, so the viewing of the film will now be on the weekend of January 14th, so everyone can read the book THEN see the film!
