I thought it might be nice to compile a list of websites, which list must read books...
Let me know if you find any!

This is a website that lists "must read" fantasy books...
http://www.bestfantasybooks.com/great...

I have to say, that I have read a decent amount of the books on this list and I agree that they are must reads for people who love the fantasy genre! :)

southpaw285 Joy, this was a fantastic idea. Fantasy is really new to me, and Paranormal is realatively new for me. When starting a new genre, it is sometimes really hard to tell where to start. The danger, for me at least, is if the first book I read is something I don't like, it tends to "scare" me away from the genre. With a list like this, you have some kind of guideline to go by. You have somewhere to start.

Thanks for the lists.

I've only read one of these, and I've been reading top-quality romances for 30 years. One might expect to see better authors than this on such a list. Where is Nora Roberts? Jayne Ann Krentz? Lora Leigh? Debbie Macomber? Georgette Heyer? Sandra Brown? I'm sorry to say that this list looks like a gimmick to get people to buy stuff. Too bad. I'd much rather trust the lists folks vote for on this site.

Thank you for finding these, Joy. I'm always willing to give something a fair shot.

I actually really liked the fantasy list of "must reads". I have the same problem when trying a new genre. I have the same problem with series too. If the the first book doesn't live up to my expectations, I am less likely to move on...
