The Mises Institute has a large library of economics, history, and other social science books in .epub, .pdf, and other formats. They have my favorite history book, Conceived in Liberty by Murray Rothbard, in a great .epub edition.

Thank you very much Douglas for the post.
I did delete a couple of previous posts which when I checked were no longer free even if you were in the UK.
Folks, please feel free to post free ebook offers that are not self promoting. Our membership certainly wants to take advantage of these. Make sure to add proper citations as Douglass did in message 18.

Little Brother
All, if you know of free ebooks that are not self promotional - please of course add the links and let us know - our members would like to take advantage. By all means post here. See above for ideas.
However, if publishers want to offer us free publications to read - we do have policies in place but do not post these offers here. We will be happy to discuss. Simply send Bentley a PM.

National Academies Press has over 10,000 published books available for free download online. Most of the titles relate to science and technology, but there are some titles in the social sciences, economics, etc. These are mostly titles you might use for research. A lot of it is National Research Council titles and reports consolidated from conferences, but there are a few gems in there like this one:
by
Edward O. Wilson
It is worth checking out if you do a lot of research or have interests in the sciences (e.g. engineering) or histories of sciences (e.g. history of space exploration).

The OAPEN ( https://library.oapen.org/ ) currently lists ~25.000 English publications. The Directory of Open Access Books ( https://doabooks.org/ ) is another public access point.
For example:
Colonialism, Capitalism and Racism ( https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.5...) by Jan Bremen (Amsterdam University Press) which can also be purchased in print and found on goodreads

It should be clear then what the Directory of Open Access Journals ( https://doaj.org/ ) is, it currently lists more than 20.000 journals and 10.000.000 articles.
For example:
Africa's Transitions to the Middle Ages ( https://doaj.org/article/28aeb8eae1a1... ) from the Medieval Worlds journal ( https://www.medievalworlds.net/mediev... )
The European Reference Index for the Humanities and Social Sciences ( https://kanalregister.hkdir.no/publis... ) provides more than 10.000 journals.
Taylor & Francis Online ( https://www.tandfonline.com/ ) provides ~5.300.000 academic articles and journals.
Printing books isn't for free, many of the publications you can also purchase in print, for example:

Which can also be found for free in the various OA access points ( https://library.oapen.org/handle/20.5... ) and also at the publishers site ( https://www.degruyter.com/document/do... ). The complete Dependency and Slavery Studies ( https://www.degruyter.com/serial/dss-... ) series is Open Access, by the way, as is a tremendous number of other excellent series.
