Dave Russell Dogs Are Superior To cats...

Have you ever heard of a cat helping a blind person cross the street? Or fetching your slippers? (Not that my dog has ever done that, but I've heard of it.) Dogs are loyal, helpful, and loving. Cats are evil bastards who are no good for anything. They're like the Dick Cheneys of the animal kingdom.

Photographic evidence that cats are evil (see message 9):

Dave Russell Al Gore Is Right...

Global climate Change is real and man-made. The average global temperature of the Earth is rising due to humans releasing too many greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. This is causing glaciers to melt and rising sea levels, and endangering the habitats of polar bears, the most awesome creatures on Earth (next to Dogs.)

Not Bill | 1061 comments Anyone who is breathing would note that a dog is superior in everyway to a cat. All a cat cares about, is a steady (if not free) supply of food, and warm place to to take a dump. Trust me on this.

message 4: by RandomAnthony (new)

RandomAnthony I'm not going to pick a horse (uh, so to speak) in this race. I like both cats and dogs. I used to be strictly a dog guy until I ended up with three cats by marriage. And I learned to love the cats' independence and the like. So I dig 'em both.

Yay, cats! Yay, dogs! I like them both, too. Yay, Dave! Yay, Not Bill. Same thing.

Dave Russell George Bush Is The Worst President Ever...

He appointed cronies to important positions of government who were in some cases incompetent (Brownie, Gonzalez) and in other cases corrupt (Alphonse Jackson, Karl Rove). He's turned our government into a Third World government. He has gotten us into a war in the Middle East that has been a complete Fiasco. He has condoned torture, and undercut important Constitutional principles (Habeas Corpus, Separation of Powers). He has hurt our prestige abroad and alienated our important allies. He has wrecked the good economy he inherited from the Clinton Administration, and generally been an embarrassment to our country.

message 7: by Not Bill (new)

Not Bill | 1061 comments Dave, your logic concerning man made global warming I find strangely compelling. Despite all evidence to the contrary, I find that I have to agree with all that you've said. It just "feels right" - it makes sense. Sometimes we need to go with our gut feelings and I'm with you on this one. In fact, I may stand to benefit as a result. With the seas due to rise between 20 and 30 feet over the next 50 years, that would put the coastline at about a 10 minute drive from my house, as opposed to the current 45. My property value will soar, and I will pocket a tidy sum. Therefore, armed with the new knowledge that we are indeed at cause of our current climate situation, I've begun to inact my own impact operation and drove all the way into work. With luck, I can sell my house in 20 years at 10 times current value.

Dave Russell These Books Are Hilarious And Well-Researched...

Lies and the Lying Liars Who Tell Them

Rush Limbaugh Is A Big Fat Idiot

And Al Franken will make a great Senator.

message 13: by Not Bill (new)

Not Bill | 1061 comments Bush took croniism to a whole new level. He is the olympic champion of croniism - just look at Scott McClellan and you'll know what I mean. What a turd. He did indeed turn out Govt into a 3rd World Govt, but I was under the impression that it had to do something with diversity, so I must have missed somehting. hmmm
Same thing with torture, he's commander and chief so that's where the buck stops, but then hey I'd like to waterboard some of those bastards too. That's just me, I'm a cat.

Worst president ever - he'll leave office with even a worse approval rating than Truman. There's something to that number, obviously.

message 14: by Not Bill (new)

Not Bill | 1061 comments Oh - to #14 - I believe that is the worst approval rating since these things were tracked.

message 15: by Not Bill (new)

Not Bill | 1061 comments Hey - I like Al Franken - have since his SNL days. I was sorry to see his movey tank, that was a pretty funny character he played. I've red the Rush Limbaugh book - very funny. I haven't read the other but if it's Al, and you say it's funny, then it must be.

Al is passionate about what he does, and I can think of no more deserving a state of and Al Franken governorship than Minnesota.

I took out the obviously sarcastic bits (allowing for the fact that he is a cat.)

message 20: by Not Bill (new)

Not Bill | 1061 comments Heh, heh. Again, what can I say - Ima cat. When it comes to cheating, we are the lowest of the low, which means we're quite good at it. Notice, that cat always instigates, but it's the dog that gets in trouble.

Yes - I'm a most dirty cheater - filthy, if you will.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 1811 comments Mod
Not Bill, you have no thumbs. You can only dream of tieing shoelaces together.

And that is not very cat-like behavior, anyway.

Better to sit, unnoticed, at her feet until she gets up and trips over you. Or run in front of her when she's carrying something and can't see you there.
Of course, there is an element of danger for you in both of those options...

Hmmm, well, my old, growing up cat, Tom, used to wait for me to round a corner to scratch the hell out of my legs and then run off. We had a mutual loathing going on back in the day. I only started liking cats in my 20's.

message 31: by Not Bill (new)

Not Bill | 1061 comments Yer right no thumbs, but still very cat like.

:::gives big sloppy lick between Amelias toes, then sits on her foot:::

message 32: by [deleted user] (new)

(So your cat butt hair will stick to my foot? And, how did you know that I have "foot issues"? While we're on the subject, was it between the two where the "N" tattoo is?)

message 33: by Not Bill (new)

Not Bill | 1061 comments Yep, pretty much right with the butt hair. I didn't notice a tattoo, can you elaborate? Does N mark the spot? You say you have foot issues, but you get a tattoo there. Interesting. Of course, your issues might not be negative in nature.

Dave Russell More Conversations On Goodreads Should Revolve Around Me And How Correct I Am And Less About Harry Potter And The Twilight Series...

Oh, yeah, and sports. There should be no conversations about that (unless it's about chess or chess boxing.)

message 35: by Jackie "the Librarian", Cool Star Trek Nerd (new)

Jackie "the Librarian" | 1811 comments Mod
Yeah, that's the trouble with GoodReads, Dave. You get a good conversation going about yourself, and then some yahoo goes off on a tangent, and you can't get it back on track.

You are totally right, Dave. As usual. :D

message 36: by Not Bill (new)

Not Bill | 1061 comments Good show Jackie. Dave points out a real peave and rightly so. Please everyone, let's remain focused on Dave, shall we? hmmmmm? Thanks in advance. And yes, please dispense with any sport references and boring Harry Potter twitterings. This is a literary site after all. Let's keep it intellectual. Chess Boxing? I've heard of Strip Chess, but not Chess Boxing.

message 37: by RandomAnthony (new)

That's a very good question, RA.
Dave, where did you go? We all want to know what Chess Boxing is?

message 39: by Dave (last edited Jul 14, 2008 05:08PM) (new)

Dave Russell Chess boxing:

message 40: by Sarah (new)

Sarah (songgirl7) Right, Dave. Because I would absolutely hate to talk about books too much on a site for readers. Yup. 'Sall about you, my friend! ;)

Sigh. This is why I'm not in your top 5, isn't it?

The 2008 World Champion Chessboxer, Russian math student Nikolaj Sazhin, 19, won the light heavyweight division in Berlin on July 5 in front of a thousand fans, after seizing his punch-drunk opponent's queen in the fifth round of chess.

hahahahahahaha!!! Can't outthink your opponent in a normal round of chess? Just knock 'em silly!
