Jennifer (jml_417) I've created some folders to keep our discussions organized. So far, I've only created "What We're Reading" and "Chit Chat" (for off topic discussions). I was thinking of adding some others called "Reviews and Recommendations", "Group Reads" and "Our Favourites", where we could post our "Top 10" lists, etc.

What do you think? Is there anything else anyone would like me to add?

Jenn

Laurel (laureljean) I'm always interested in hearing what books people have recently bought, picked up at the library or received as gifts. Anyone else find that interesting? And I also like to hear about new cookbooks (surprising to anyone?).

Thanks, Jenn.

Carol (actutor) This is great! Thanks!

Mary | 236 comments I LOVE hearing what books people have seen/bought -- what's new on their shelves that they can't wait to get to! Along those lines, I have a stack of my newest acquisitions, bought over the last few months, right behind me here. Among them are ROOM, STILTSVILLE, STILL MISSING, THE GOOD DAUGHTERS, THE ONE THAT I WANT, THE LOTUS EATERS, and THE ATLAS OF LOVE. They're all screaming, "me, me, me!!"

Laurel (laureljean) I just purchased Living Buddha, Living Christ and Love Poems from Half Price Books yesterday. I'm anxiously awaiting Room from the library. I've also taken advantage of some of the free books offered for Kindle owners: Dixie Divas, Quiet As They Come, Chinatown Beat, and Billy Boyle.

Stacey Laurel-I read Living Buddha, Living Christ years ago....it was really interesting!

Mary-I just stumbled upon The Lotus Eaters and I have to read it! Looks great.

I've put The Lotus Eaters on my wish list, too. Thanks, Mary.

Mary | 236 comments A good (discriminating) reader friend of mine in Denver completely FLIPPED over THE LOTUS EATERS! It's one of those in my stack I'm especially eager to get to! Can't wait to hear what you guys think if you get to it before I do.

Andrea | 67 comments MARY YOU WILL LOVE THIS BOOK - WE ARE OF SIMILAR AGE - AND THE VIETNAM WAR IS SOMETHING UNFORGETTABLE TO OUR GENERATION.

message 10: by Mary (new)

Mary | 236 comments Oh, I loved hearing that from you, Andrea!! As soon as I finish HUSBAND AND WIFE (which should be in the next few days), THE LOTUS EATERS will be my next one. Can't wait!!

message 11: by Carol (new)

Carol (actutor) Andrea, It's nice hearing from you. This does sound interesting. I will add it to my TBR list.

message 12: by Theresa (new)

Theresa Maybe I should try "The Lotus Eaters" again. I read the first couple of chapters, put it down, and never went back to it.

message 13: by Mary (new)

Mary | 236 comments Were you not liking that much when you tried it before, TK, or were you just distracted by something else and forgot about it?

message 14: by Theresa (new)

Theresa I think it was a combination of things, Mary. I had some other books from the library so I think I was distracted by one or two of them, which means that the beginning of "The Lotus Eaters" just didn't pull me in. So off I went.
