She also tells him that she wants to be a part of Amy's life, especially now since her mother had died. Wes says fine, come over for dinner. Laney comes over and Wes and Laney both tell Amy that Laney is her first mother. Amy is really confused and doesn't want to believe it. Laney goes to court for half custody of Amy and she gets it. That doesn't work out so well, so Laney proposed an idea to Wes. She offers to to marry him, help him with the medical bills, and offers to give him money to get his business back together. In return she gets to know her daughter better and his house will be taken care of. Wes agrees reluctantly and they get married by name only.
