Sweet. I've usually just used whatever timelines are on Wookieepedia because . . . I'm lazy. Those are really, really basic, though. But these are good resources. Thanks again.

So do you like it when a character builds a history in the books, like Jacen, Jaina and Ben?

Timelineunivese.com used to be my favorite, but then they slowly started to lessen the amount of updates to the site. Still not sure how up-to-date it is, but might have to look into again.
Lately, I have been looking at a board on TheForce.net to arrange my books, but they haven't updated since September and it's starting to get annoying as they are missing a lot of the more recent releases.
Today I was actually reorganizing the Clone Wars era of my bookshelf to follow the newly released EU Clone Wars Timeline but quickly discovered it was missing key books like the Republic Commando series. It mentions the Commando books in the notes area of the page but it doesn't place them in the timeline. Sigh.
I don't know why organizing my Star Wars books in chronological order is so important to me, but I just can't stop.
The Clone Wars has really been the biggest thorn in my side as the animated franchise's books have completely rewritten the Clone Wars timeline established years earlier.
I like Ahsoka, but she completely destroys the continuity of the Clone Wars era.

I'm lazy, so I do that, too.

At first I refused to watch The Clone Wars bc I was afraid it would dance all over canon...I finally gave in a couple of weeks ago, only to find out its the timeline that is in the most trouble. Its very annoying. I don't like the character or the idea of Ahsoka, but it'd be easier to deal with if the timeline was clear. Its not a terrible show. But its not perfect like soe people claim.
I'm not entirely sure when the current episodes of the Clone Wars are taking place in the timeline. I've heard that the events are moving closer to Episode III, so I'm guessing that next season will have the rescue of Palpatine (and hopefully they won't make us wait all season for that).
I am willing to bet that they would make us wait until the end of the season.
As far as the timeline is concerned, they tend to play around with it. They will tell a story that takes place at a certain time in the war, and then they will have an episode that takes place before any of the other episodes have taken place. I agree that it is confusing. But I think they're doing it so that they can conceivably let the series last as long as they want.
In the same vein, they could be doing the same thing. They are dancing all over the timeline, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the canonical timeline is not intact. Unless they come out and say "This happened, then this happened" and it directly contradicts things.
That's my humble opinion, anyway.

I've loved the Old Republic era since I first played Knights of the Old Republic, and have loved everything released in that era especially the Darth Bane novels.
I'm really getting into the Legacy era though now that I'm reading Legacy of the Force and have read the Legacy comic books.
I also enjoyed the Rise of the Empire era (40 BBY - 0 BBY) especially around the time of the Jedi Purge (so dark) but the new Clone Wars animated series has kind ruined that for me.

The Clone Wars animated series in general is moving towards Revenge of the Sith, but they do jump back and do prequels and direct sequels to certain episodes, but you can bet they are gunna draw the series out as long as they can to get as much money as possible from it.

I think one of the Bantam Spectra published books, probably Heir to the Empire, referred to the clone wars happening like 20 years before it did in the prequel films, so the timeline is always changing, unfortunately now their altering the timeline for all the wrong reasons, and yes Death to Ahsoka... that should be a catchphrases for real Star Wars fans.

Well they did do retroactive continuity with the One Sith, by putting them in Star by Star and the Dark Nest trilogy (I dont know if it was a major part or what, I havent read either)

You can find many novel and complete timelines on the internet, but these are the ones I find to be more useful and oft-updated:
The suvudu Star Wars novel timeline is the basic timeline found in the front of new novels.
Timelineunivese.com is an excellent quick-look-up site for anything EU including fiction, comics, and games in precise timeline order and separated by era.
Star Wars Timeline Gold is a download file that features a massively in-depth summary of the events of the Star Wars universe from all official sources that contain any amount of story at all. This is very good for filling in gaps when there's something from the EU timeline you haven't read/played or don't recall.
Meanwhile it's partner file, the Star Wars Expanded Universe Chronology is huge list of every product and story event by title only.
