I felt the same way. I wanted to deck the main character by the time I was 1/3 of the way into the book. I can admire Salinger's skill as a writer, but Holden Caulfield (sp?) just had to go.

I actually have a "Lifetime Reading List" that has about a billion books on it, a mix of contemporary and old-school classics, and I have been stocking up on them thanks to half-price bookstores and $1 sales, however, my bookshelves have become over run with unread books, so my goal this year is to read as many books from my shelves as possible and to try and resist the urge to by more :-)

It was ok. I did not love it, I think it was too similar to "Practical Magic". The main character got on my nerves pretty early on.
