Romance Readers Reading Challenges discussion

I'm introducing a slightly different reading challenge.

Instead of getting categories, there will be a list of 12 randomly-generated book titles. The goal is to read one book from the list within a 4-week period.

After the 4-week period, the book that was read the most will be used to generate another book list. This time the list will be more focused on the type of book that is used to generate the list.

To participate, you only need to signify your interest. You may post your choice in advance or post it after you finished reading. You may read more than one book, but only one is required to complete the challenge.

Please post a brief commentary on the book/s when you are done.

I will be posting 5 Random Book List Challenge threads, which I will stagger a week apart. You can join each list or simply pick and choose.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please post it in this thread.

It's pretty random.

I'm using a mixture of random book generator websites, like bookseer.com. yournextread.com, whatshallireadnext.com, etc.

Yup, I know randomly, LOL but where do you you get the pool of books? What do you use to randomize the lists? How would you 'generate' a list based on one book?

I'm just curious but don't say anything if it's top secret! :p

Well for the beginning list...i just randomly pulled books from different genres.

For the next list, it will be based on the book that was read most from the first list.

I think I will try this one.

I'm intrigued and a bit confused. But, I'm in ... when the list has a book I haven't read/wanna read.

I've checked out the first list and will pass this month. The books listed are either ones I've read, haven't gotten to yet (not far enough along in the series yet) or don't have/can't get for this month. Maybe next month. :)

No worries, Steph. There will always be a new list each week, so sooner or later, there will be a book you would like to read.

Could I seek clarification Yz?

We select a book from the first list and have 4 weeks to read that book. Then a second, third and fourth list is posted after one, two and three weeks etc etc.

Does the person who reads a book from the fourth list also have a month to complete the read? But maybe this is immaterial as just use the data (book selection from week 4) to then generate the next part of the challenge?...

Yes, there is always a 4-week period for every Random List thread.

But you generate the more 'refined list' for the next month based on everyone's selection in the first four weeks?

That is correct.

Then each thread might end up focusing on different specific genre or type of books based on the 'winning' book/s at the end of the first four-week period.

I"m interested but I really can't read this month due to NaNoWriMo. But I'm game. I at least want to see what this is. I'm curious. It seems like a really intriguing method of choosing books!
