If Double Indemnity is anything like the Movie (great Movie if you liked the book see it, course now I have to read the book) it took place in California.

I actually read the book because it's one of my favorite movies! I quite liked it, but the end is interestingly different. It was just different enough that I'm not confident enough to be sure it was California in the book. But I may update if I remember to check next time I'm at the library.
