I'm getting ready to make my first five dozen peanut butter balls of a long peanut ball holiday season. Would anyone else like to participate in a cookie exchange?

I think we'd need to just send a few cookies to a few people each, maybe the weekend after Tgiving or the first weekend of December. I'd love to receive some good treats, and I'd love to share mine.

THE HEAD COUNT:

Alecia
Kate
Kevin
Ms. Petra
Jim
Sally

ms.petra (mspetra) how elaborate are you thinking Sally? if I could just make my one or two of my favorite cookies or sweet bread I would be up for that. I would not be able to send an assortment of items. Also, I have been sending care packages this semester and the postage on a box of cookies is going to be at least $5. Just so everyone knows what they are getting into....

I don't think a lot of cookies at all. And it wouldn't be many participants. I imagine that if we all put three-five cookies in seperate baggies and mailed off a dozen or so, we could all get a little sampler box in return.
I'll moderate so it will be more like a traditional shebang than the (absolutely fantastic) postcard shebang going down right now.

ms.petra (mspetra) if you are up to the task, I am in. and yes, the postcards shebang is fantastic. I think we should all switch up and send out another round. (I may send out another round anyway for job security)

janine | 7709 comments i don't have an oven and i don't think cookies would make it all the way over the ocean, but this sounds like a great idea.

No cookies allowed through customs.

message 10: by [deleted user] (new)

Hey you where is my postcard?

message 11: by Jonathan (new)

Jonathan Lopez | 4726 comments Wish I knew, Gail. I mailed all three at the same time. Gretchen, who lives due south of me, got hers promptly. Jackie, who is on the west coast, apparently hasn't gotten hers yet. Yours, I imagine, is on a U. S. Postal Service slow boat to China and should arrive sometime around Valentine's Day.

If it's any consolation, I haven't gotten the card you sent yet, either.

message 12: by [deleted user] (new)

Sweet a ♥ valentine's card. Thanks Jonathan you shouldn't have. I'll mark it in the calender and look for it. :)

message 13: by ms.petra (new)

ms.petra (mspetra) I don't know why some post cards take so long to arrive and I work at the USPS. I mailed mine on Tuesday and only Kevin's and my daughter's arrived so far. May you all receive postcards today!

No post on the weekends here.

Jackie "the Librarian" | 8991 comments I love the idea of a cookie exchange, but the kind I make are either too fragile or get stale too fast to work.
Have fun, you guys!
(I got Jonathan's postcard yesterday, and Gail's, yay!)

Heidi (heidihooo) | 10825 comments This would not work well with my diet, ohhhh but I LOOOVE cookies. I love making 'em, too.

*musters up the will to say "no!!!"*

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments Alright...okay...I'll do it. The lure of cookies is too tempting for me to resist. But I warn you now, you may end up with mangled cookie pieces and not whole cookies...I used to send the hubs cookies when he was overseas and they never fared very well. Of course they were still tasty so that kind of made up for it :p

message 22: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Wrap them separately in plastic wrap and put them in a tin with no space for them to move around.

message 23: by [deleted user] (new)

You have done this before Larry?

message 24: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Yup.

message 25: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments I did that Larry, I swear I did. But the overseas mail people seemed to enjoy kicking the packages around or something...I've never had good luck with UPS. The packages I sent through USPS fared far better though. But I never sent cookies in those packages for some reason.

message 26: by [deleted user] (new)

Put Larry's name on the list Sally.

message 27: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I don't bake anymore. I'm just the shipping consultant.

message 28: by Brittomart (new)

Brittomart Why don't you bake anymore, Larry?

message 29: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I enjoy cooking more, and have a spouse who puts my baking skills to shame.

message 30: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments Sooo...are we gonna exchange some cookies?

message 31: by Sally, la reina (new)

Sally (mrsnolte) | 17373 comments Mod
Yeah, I keep thinking about it. Should we do it?

message 32: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments We should!

message 33: by Félix (last edited Dec 07, 2010 07:14PM) (new)

Félix (habitseven) No gingerbread men, though.

message 34: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments I thought you weren't exchanging cookies with us Larry...did you change your mind? And I'm sending gingerbread men...so....neener neener! Victory... Pictures, Images and Photos

message 35: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) I bite your head off!

message 36: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments Well that's just not fair, I can hardly come up with a good come back if I have no head!

message 37: by [deleted user] (new)

Larry doesn't like to play fair.

message 38: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) All's fair ....

message 39: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments Oh good, then I bake myself a new head and attach it with some frosting. Then have my cat forcibly remove your frosting and gumdrop buttons with her abrasive tongue!

message 40: by Félix (new)

Félix (habitseven) Cats love me.

message 41: by Phoenix (new)

Phoenix (phoenixapb) | 1619 comments Heh!
