Anitra, I got it, but we don't delete books until they're already combined with other editions. This book was a stand alone and needed its author spelling changed and then needed to be combined before it was deleted. But, it's been done.

Sean, This is an official Goodreads group for Goodreads librarians to improve the Goodreads database. This is not an appropriate place to just chat. Just fyi.

I separated this edition of Pride and Prejudice, because it is a version adapted for children.
Then I noticed that it has 162 ratings and 12 reviews. Looking at the reviews, I'm sure that at least the first few are for the original version.

The only way I could think of to fix this was to recombine it, delete it (to shift the reviews), and then add it again. But I don't think I can do it because of the number of reviews? Can somebody help?

Amy, Got it. I think you're right so I did as you suggested. I'm hoping not too many people had read that adapted edition but saw none at all that obviously had.

Most of the reviews are for the book, not the York Notes - needs to be shifted, deleted, and revived?

Got it.

There are several duplicate editions for The Brief Wondrous Life of Oscar Wao due to people misspelling Junot Díaz. I've corrected the spelling and combined the editions but I can't merge/delete them. It's saying only a super librarian can do it because there are too many reviews. But before I combined the editions, there were only two reviews for the bogus edition. Help please!

I've deleted them, Sarah -- being shelved even without a review or a star rating counts as a "review" for purposes of requiring a superlibrarian delete, even if there are few or no actual reviews.

I think this one can be deleted. There's a Persian(?) book with the same ISBN. Or should something else be done?

Animeactress, the edition you linked has a unique, valid ISBN. I'm not sure why you feel it should be deleted.

I was trying to make and merge an audiobook version of a book already in existence, but then decided an Amazon import would work better.

Animeactress, Why do you see no purpose to this edition? It cannot be deleted because it has ISBNs. And it's can't be labelled NOT A BOOK because it is a book. Lots of members want their edition so there are many books with multiple editions in the database.

Thomas, I deleted the book for you, but since you manually entered the book edition, you could have done it yourself. Just go to the book, then click edit, then scroll down, and then click Delete this book.


Edit: Isis, Sorry, just noticed your post #21. I have no idea how I missed it so there's no point in asking. Ugh.

Lisa, there were two copies of this book which hasn't been published yet -- they had the same cover artwork and pub date of 2009, but the deleted one was otherwise empty except for character information which I moved over to the kept edition. (I figure one was a fan getting wind of the publication date and cover art and the other was the actual publisher's pre-release.)

Ahhh...that's different. Those are actually the same exact edition listed three times. I think it's related to this bug report.

This is a duplicate ISBN. I saved the cover to the other edition because it has more complete information.
