Ah, the best laid plans of mice and men...
Having one folder per month quickly put us above the 100 folder limit. *sigh* So now, folders are done three months at a time, with the folder name beginning with the year. Folders are now named "2010-Jan-Feb-Mar," for example. As before, still file your discussions under the correct year/month.

As you’ve probably noticed, we’re doing some construction work around the group. Linda, Jessica, and I are frantically working to get the bookshelf back up-to-date, and more in-depth, too. We’ll also be beginning/organizing a place to discuss the books seen on TDS and TCR.
Bookshelf
The group bookshelf is now set up so that anyone can add books to the shelf. If you’d like to add books you’ve seen on the shows (and bear in mind that we’re still working on this, so not every book is on the shelf yet), we only ask that you follow these guidelines:
1. File the book on the correct show’s shelf (daily-show or colbert-report, or on both if the book has been featured on both shows)
2. Add the date of the show (with the month spelled out) in the “Why this book?” field that you'll see as you're adding the book. If a book has been featured on a show more than once, we’ve been listing all the dates, separated by a semicolon (;). Also, if a book has been on *each* show, in the “Why this book?” field, please indicate which show goes with which date (For example: “ The Daily Show November 5, 2004; The Colbert Report September 17, 2005 ”. That book should then also be shelved on both the daily-show shelf and the colbert-report shelf.).
Discussions
We hope to get some lively talk going about the books we’ve seen on The Daily Show and The Colbert Report. To help this goal, we’ve organized some new discussion folders. Thanks to Jessica’s suggestion, there will be one folder for each month (e.g. Nov2010. I’ve chosen to go with MoYear rather than Month,Year for the sake of uniformity of length. However, if everyone says they hate the way “Nov2010” looks versus “November, 2010,” for example, let me know and I can change the folder names.). The first post in each month's folder will list all of the books seen on the two shows for that month. (This post will most likely be started before the end of the month, and will be added to by Linda or myself as the month goes on.) If you’d like to start a discussion about a particular book, file your thread under the correct month+year’s folder (For example, if I wanted to talk about Apolo Ohno’s book Zero Regrets, I’d start a discussion and file my thread under Oct2010 since he was on The Colbert Report on October 27, 2010.). If you’re unsure when a book was featured on the show, you can either search the group’s discussions by the book title, which should bring up the post that lists all of the books for the month, or you can view the book’s info from our group shelf, which is where you’ll find the date entered in the “Why this book?” field. If a book has been featured on a show more than once, please file your discussion under the month+year for its *first* appearance. (And if you want to talk about anything not related to a book from the shows, “the water cooler” is the folder for you!)
If you have any questions, comments, or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to contact either Linda or me. Let's have fun!
