I really don't mind the formality, it gives structure to complicated plot

A bad translation can kill a good book, but a good translation won't save a bad one.

I feel like I am the only one who hates Girl with The Dragon Tattoo. Really everyone I know loves it.

Well, I didn't love it-prose too clunky for that (not just the translation, I don't think).

But I did like it. Although I would have liked it more with some serious editing.

Actually, it's so hard for me to admit to not liking any book, especially one most others like that I turn to this site just to be able to breathe. I think it's inspirational to have a group like this. It helps me go back to the books I'm reading with a more open & fresher heart & mind.
So thanks all here who dare to say when they don't like a book.

I'm Swedish, bilingual though, and the problem w Larsson is not the translation; the books are horrendously mediocre, that's all.
