Think [the box] ing discussion

Most people , and many writers, are concerned with post- apocalyptic themes. What do you foresee as the next apocalyptic event for us, and how soon do you think it will occur? I can see something like a plague causing an apocalypse, given the genetic meddling being done, and the widespread knowledge of how to generate disease vectors. Given the variety of dangerous information available to the public in general, I'm surprised more damage hasn't been done by the unstable and radical elements out there.

The newest theory for one which will happen before either the sun dies or the water levels rise actually counts in blackouts as the main problem. A flare from the sun causes problems with the earth's magnetism after hitting the atmospheric shield.(for want of a better word) and thus the on-planet power is affected and goes down. After that we're are relied upon to destroy ourselves. Presumably this means that scientists of the sketchy doom-slinging variety still believing we are all feral monsters at heart.
