Richard (mrredwood) | 123 comments Having run out of Kim Stanley Robinson's books in his Science in the Capital series, we have to start the new year with something fresh. The poll for the month of January 2011 is up for the HardSF BotM at Yahoo groups.

Remember, you can vote for any number — so, for example, if there are only two that you wouldn’t want to read, then use reverse voting, courtesy of Yahoo.

For your research, the books are:
Flood , by Stephen Baxter
Weapons of Choice , by John Birmingham
Childhood's End , by Arthur C. Clarke
The Sands of Mars , by Arthur C. Clarke
For the Win , by Cory Doctorow
Makers , by Cory Doctorow
Diaspora , by Greg Egan
Forever Free , by Joe Haldeman
The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress , by Robert A. Heinlein
The Proteus Operation , by James P. Hogan
Thrice Upon A Time , by James P. Hogan
Cosmonaut Keep , by Ken MacLeod
WWW:Wake , by Robert J. Sawyer
Quicksilver , by Neal Stephenson

Richard (mrredwood) | 123 comments Turns out we got ourselves a tie.

There were six votes each for:

Flood , by Stephen Baxter
The Moon Is a Harsh Mistress , by Robert A. Heinlein

The run-off poll is over at the Yahoo Groups site — the voting ends tonight!

Richard (mrredwood) | 123 comments My personal lobbying campaign:

While The Moon is a Harsh Mistress is, in my opinion, Heinlein’s best legacy, it was just read in November by the SciFi and Fantasy Book Club. So, for the Goodreads voting bloc, I would hope we’d head over to the poll and vote on Flood. It would also be a nice comparison to Robinson’s three books, since it also deals with climate change.
